On Buried Bones, journalist Kate Winkler Dawson and retired investigator Paul Holes dissect some of history’s most compelling true crime cases from centuries ago. Together, they explore these very old cases through a 21st century lens. With their years of expertise and knowledge of modern forensics, they reflect on how far science has come and bring new insight to old mysteries. Together, Kate and Paul have examined many cases including the 1932 Lindbergh baby kidnapping, the first time fingerprinting was used as evidence in a courtroom and a possible serial killer in 1960s Nashville. Story
In September 1935, Dr Buck Ruxton strangled his wife, Isabella, whom he suspected of having an affair, in their Lancashire home while their three children slept in their beds. When the nanny, Mary Rogerson, disturbed him in the act, he killed her, too. To hide his crimes, he dismembered and chopped up the bodies, removing any distinguishing features, before he disposed of them in a ravine on the Scottish borders. It took the genius of professors Sydney Smith and John Glaister, and their groundbreaking forensic techniques, to piece together the identities of the bodies.

I quite enjoyed the beginning of the story. It held huge potential, but for some reason I lost interest half way through. It's not easy to write a novel, especially a horror so I'm not going to be nasty about it. I guess it just wasn't the type of horror I enjoy.

Story
To the children, the town was their whole world. To the adults, knowing better, Derry, Maine, was just their hometown: familiar, well ordered for the most part. A good place to live. It was the children who saw - and felt - what made Derry so horribly different. In the storm drains, in the sewers, IT lurked, taking on the shape of every nightmare, each one's deepest dread. Sometimes IT reached up, seizing, tearing, killing....

I was expecting big things from this book. Needless to say I found it a huge disappointment. Only made it 20 hours in and then quit. I prefer the 🎬. the book is long winded and out dated. As for the narrator I'd prefer never to hear his voice again. I find Stephen King overrated, and plan to steer clear of his novels in future.

I love dark Victorian novels. This one was wonderful. Not happy that my favourite character died but still I'd listen to it all over again. The ending is perfect for for the main protagonist in the story.
The narrator was exceptional, more often than not I stop listening if I think a narrator is annoying. On this occasion, I personally believe the narrator enhanced the story.

Story
Don Miller was quiet and reserved. As a former youth pastor, he seemed a devout Christian. No one would have ever suspected that the recent graduate of the Michigan State University School of Criminal Justice was a serial killer. However, when Miller was arrested for the attempted murder of two teenagers in 1978, police quickly realized he was probably responsible for the disappearances of four women. Offered a still-controversial plea bargain, he led police to the bodies of the missing women. Now, after 40 years in prison, Miller has served his time.
