About this listen

My boss's secret daughter was never mine to lose. But I lost her anyway. Violet Holt might bend with the wind, but she'll never break.

At least, that's what I used to think. Now I'm not so sure. The men who abducted her didn't break her. Nor did the days she spent as their captive. It was my deceit that did it. Now that she's gone, my heart barely beats. The only thing keeping me going is vengeance.

I vowed to make the men who hurt her suffer. And I plan to do just that, and win her back in the process.

The only question is, can I do both? **Unexpected Heroine is the part two in the Unexpected Trilogy. This is the continuation of Tomer and Lettie's love story. This trilogy is also a part of the larger Redleg Security Series. This book should not be listened to as a stand-alone. However, the Unexpected Trilogy can be listened to on its own, outside the rest of the Redleg Security Series if you so choose (but it's better as part of the complete series).

Great Book

My rating for the story is 5 stars. Tomer and Lettie’s second book is very good. Be prepared with your favorite drinks, snacks, and tissues! Watching Tomer and Lettie work through the aftermath of both the events in Unexpected Hero and the rest of their lives was full of all the feels. Getting to see friends from previous books and even a brief Amos-hole cameo. So really, make sure you’ve read the previous books and get to reading this one!

My rating for the audio is 5 stars. Aaron and Kelsey have knocked it out of the park yet again. They bring more depth and a level of feelings that I really enjoyed. I can’t imagine anyone else voicing Tomer and Lettie.

Tomer & Lettie book 2…all the feels

Picking up where Unexpected Hero dropped off, I thought I was prepared for the trip down the hill of emotions that Jackie Walker set off to take us on. But boy was I wrong. This hill was steeper than I think I could’ve ever prepared myself for!
Lettie shows us that the bravest of women can endure tragic experiences & still come out the other side. Though she is not unscathed, her resilience takes her through life one day at a time & one experience at a time. While she possesses a very heavy and guarded heart, she is determined to become a beacon of light to shine bright for others to find their way.
Tomer is a wreck. He knows he’s lost the trust of the only woman he’ll ever love. And while he is determined to fight for her, he is patient enough to give her time to find herself. Besides, he’s got a lot of work to do in the name of vengeance to make the world a better place for her to live in.
I hope you’re still buckled in for the intense excursion this book will take your emotions on. But I promise, you will find yourself falling in love with these characters all over again.

Audiobook Review:
Aaron Shedlock & Kelsey Navarro Foster delivered another flawless performance as their portrayal of Lettie & Tomer is unmatched. The heart wrenching emotional journey this story takes us on was so well captured in the exquisite narration these two delivered. I can’t wait to be able to listen to the all consuming dive into the final installment of this story.

Intensely Emotional

The intensely emotional continuation of the Unexpected trilogy.

PTSD related to SA. Fallout from a secret identity. Finding oneself again after everything falls apart. Lots of angst and groveling. There’s so much in this book and it’s all told with Jackie’s amazing wit.

The audiobook so good! Kelsey Navarro Foster & Aaron Shedlock were perfect for Lettie and Tomer!

Thank you so much, Jackie, for a copy of this audiobook!

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice: 🌶️.5
Narration: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

You know that line in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban where Ron tells Harry, “You’re gonna be miserable, but you’re gonna be happy about it.” Yeah, that’s epitomizes this book. You’re going to be miserable during this book, and not in a “omg this books sucks blahhhh” bullshyte kind of way. Abso-freaking-lutely not. You’ll hurt because of the agony these characters have to go through. Your heart will break for Lettie and Tomer, but they HAVE TO go through it. No wonder our precious Jackie Walker had such a difficult time with these two. They were the Tomer-est and Lettie-est they could be. But ho-ly hell in a hand basket is this book worth the heartbreaking journey you’ll go on. Think of it as that long ass drive to get the best vacation ever, and trust the process. Possibly set up a preemptive appointment with your therapist too. Lettie would approve.

You have to read Unexpected Hero before you can read this book. It picks up moments after book ‘Hero’ leaves off. Lettie has a lot of trauma to face. Tomer has a lot of truths to face. The two of them have so much to work through in order to even have a chance at a happily ever after. Tomer has a lifetime of self doubt and a complete lack of self worth that has led him to all the lies he has told Lettie. What he hasn’t lied about is how he feels about her and he shows that in the gentle, compassionate way he cares for her after the horrific experience she’s survived. Is that enough for her to forgive him? Is love enough?

This book has spice, not a ton, because that’s not the focus. It’s healing, heartbreak, finding oneself, not giving up on those you love, being who you truly are, redemption, forgiving yourself and the love of your life while never forgetting, accepting that you are worthy, and not losing who you are to revenge no matter how much that monster may deserve it. Unexpected Heroine is a journey. An emotional roller coaster that is worth every twist and turn!

Lettie is a hero in a sense to the other women from the nightmare house, to herself, to Tomer. She is strength personified. Everything she has been through and experienced hasn’t broken her, it’s made her a stronger person. She lends that strength to those around her. And with the shitstorm that’s brewing, they’re all going to need that strength.

This book was narrated to perfection, again, by the dynamic duo of Kelsey Navarro Foster and Aaron Shedlock. Every single tear that was shed, every sass that was snarked, every ‘gasm that was O’d, hit the mark. I am in awe of these two. There is no one else that could have narrated Tomer and Lettie. They ARE Tomer and Lettie. Foster and Shedlock blew me away with their performance of book one, captivated me with book two, and I can imagine they are going to positively blow me away with the final book in this trilogy. The only other thing need to say is thank you. Thank you Kelsey and Aaron for doing these amazing characters justice. You brought every nuance out with your incredible talent and I will shout about this series from every rooftop to anyone who will listen to me. You are amazing.

Some thoughts while reading this book:

The amount of understanding Lettie has with what Tomer has been keeping from her, after everything she’s been through is remarkable.

For a man of few words, Tomer says the ones that mean the most.

Ok chapter 24 was heartbreaking.

Bahahaha the hairballs 🤣

Omg Tomer imagining what all the Redleg guys would suggest about Lettie’s winky face emoji 🤣

Am I kind of “into” Boss Dad? 🤭

I’ve already listened to 40 hours of Tomer and Lettie and it’s still not enough, I need more!

🦋“We don’t need evidence, because there will be no trial. I will be the judge, jury, and motherf***ing executioner.”
🦋“If love can shatter so easily, then what I feel for her is not love. It’s more. Because there’s nothing she could ever think, do, or say to remove the imprint she’s made on my soul. Even if she hurt me the way that I will surely hurt her, she would still own my heart. I could never feel anything less than utter adoration and wholeness being in her presence. Never.”
🦋“Violet Holt might bend with the wind, but she doesn’t break.”
🦋“You’re hurting because everyone I love suffers. That’s how you know my feelings for you are true.”
🦋“This is my f***ing p***y. I decide when I’m done eating it.”
🦋“As messengers of hope, endurance, and life, butterflies are angels watching over you.”

Lettie & Tomer

After the cliffhanger in the previous book I was dying for this one it did not disappoint! As emotional as the last book was this was even more heartbreaking, things were intense and I’m even more obsessed with Lettie and Tomer than I was before (somehow) The character development is top notch, the suspense aspect is insane and the banter and dialogue is witty and hilarious. I adore this series I need the next book asap. No one could deliver better emotional and meaningful performance than Kelsey and Aaron SO good!

Emotional & on the edge of your seat story

Fair Warning: You do need to read Unexpected Hero before you can read this book, but it's totally worth it! This story picks right up from where Unexpected Hero ends and WOW!!! What an emotional journey this one was!

This is the continuation of Lettie & Tomer's story & how they begin to navigate what happens "after" the big plot twist from the previous book. There are a lot of emotions & heartbreaking moments that happen in this, but I LOVED it! I'm someone who loves a good emotional read that guts you slightly and then pieces you back together slowly & Jackie definitely delivers on this!

Because so many things that are unraveling & coming to light, the Redleg Family is right there, helping these two along & this is one of the things I really love about this series, the found family & support they give to one another. Jackie's always spot on with her humor, terrific banter & wild, crazy suspense, and things get intense people! The deep connection she's been forming between Lettie & Tomer has been wonderful to read about!

This book focuses mainly on Lettie & her journey to healing & the fallout of what happens in book one of the trilogy. The ever faithful Tomer is right there & we get to see what he's thinking & feeling about everything that's happened to her. Both of the characters grow in so many ways as they begin to face the demons of their past. This book ends on a cliffy & it's a big one, so Jackie....you better be giving us Lettie & Tomer's HEA. The people have spoken & we need it & it's gonna be a very welcomed one!

🎧Let's talk narration...Kelsey & Aaron are seriously OUTSTANDING in this trilogy. They are funny, vulnerable, voice the hurt & anger of these broken characters, and they just NAIL the performances by bringing you all of it! Their acting skills are top-notch. What a treat to listen to such talented narrators. AMAZING!

This really is Lettie's book & while Tomer is a big part of it, I LOVED seeing Lettie shine with her strength & endurance. She's not only a strength to the other females in the book but to Tomer as well & we NEED more strong FMC's like her, showing us that experiences don't have to break you but can make you stronger. WONDERFUL job, Jackie! Claps all around for an amazing listen!

heartbreak and love

Wow... So much heartbreak and love and healing and growing. Book six in the Redleg Security series and the second book in the unexpected trilogy is a roller coaster of emotions. That is putting it lightly. You learn so much about Lettie and Tomer. After the cliffhanger in the first one I had to start this one right away. The story is so enticing and it's not enough. Again, the narrators couldn't be more perfect for these characters. Aaron Shedlock and Kelsey Navarro Poster portray Tomer and Lettie so well you can feel the story. I cannot wait to read and listen to the last one. Onto Unexpected Redemption we go!

More Unexpected Greatness! Amazing Story & Listen!

Jackie Walker pens another amazing novel set in her “Redleg Security” world, a romantic suspense like no other and one that will captivate your attention, take you to the edge of your seat and tug at your heartstrings, too. This sixth book is a continuation of Lettie and Tomer’s story which started in “Unexpected Hero”, the fifth book, and the story picks up where that book left off, their story runs through to the next book, “Unexpected Redemption”, so technically Walker created a mini-series within her series, and it is so darn good that you can not get enough of these characters. Tomar and Lettie’s journey has not been an easy one, with Lettie victimized for who she was without her even knowing it, and her battling PTSD because of it and Tomar battling his own inner demons. Walker has built a mighty fine web and a multilayered story, and I am loving how it is all playing out and am excited to see where it all goes next. The writing, plot and world building are incredible, as are the character growth and development. Both Tomar and Lettie have come a long way, individually and as a couple, not exactly there yet, but are getting there. They are two of my favorite characters and I am rooting for them all the way. It was great to see more of the Redleg Security team, too. There is never a dull moment in this book, and it has all the elements of a great story, drama, angst, thrilling and suspenseful moments, witty dialogue to lighten things up and warm your heart, heartfelt emotions and steamy romance. Jackie Walker, thank you for another exceptional story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧  Aaron Shedlock and Kelsey Navarro Foster's outstanding performance continues voicing and portraying these characters perfectly. They are naturals in their roles, a perfect fit, as if the roles with them in mind. Kelsey aced it as Lettie, grasping all sides of her personality, her southern charms and handled her witty dialogue with ease, as well as her almost inner dialogue, those did I say that out loud type moments. Aaron’s Tomer is wow worthy, also grasping every aspect of his personality, his insecurities, his battles with his inner demons, his fierceness and possessive protectiveness. Both were just as amazing performing the roles of all the secondary characters, too. These two made a great team, with voices and talent that complemented each other and a performance that elevates this already brilliant story to another level. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another exceptional listen.

Truly deserves more than 5 stars!

**AUDIO BOOK REVIEW**

Narrators Aaron Shedlock and Kelsey Navarro Foster continue their brilliant portrayals of Tomer & Lottie in Unexpected Heroine (Part 2 of the Unexpected Trilogy).

Kelsey Navarro Foster plays Lettie with a tenderness and vulnerability that truly highlights the essence of Lettie.

Aaron Shedlock as Tomer skillfully conveys his sexy, protective and vulnerable sides.

The duo does an impeccable job of navigating the complexities of both the characters and the sometimes sensitive topics woven into the storyline. They capture the tone of the steamy scenes, the heartfelt scenes as well as the lighter ones.

I cannot recommend this audiobook enough. It will have you laughing, crying and swooning in all the best ways.

**BOOK REVIEW**
Unexpected Heroine is Book 2 in the Unexpected Trilogy, which is part of the Redleg Security Series.

It is the continuation of Tomer and Lettie’s epic love story.

The story picks up with Lettie’s rescue from a horrific situation. In the days following, Tomer realizes that while he is able to attend to the external wounds that she’s suffering, he is not equipped to deal with her internal torment, as he still has scars of his own from past trauma.

Tomer has loved Lettie from afar for years. Lettie loves Tomer with a fierceness that is tested when she discovers she may not truly know him, even something as basic as his real name.

Unexpected Heroine is an intense exploration of how much a strong love can withstand and still survive. It is a perfect reminder that love is not always easy or perfect, but there are the ones that are truly worth fighting for.

As usual, the author hits you in all the feels, delivering the perfect blend of spice, suspense, angst and laughter. It is absolutely worth the emotional ups and downs and I cannot wait for the conclusion in Unexpected Redemption.
