About this listen

Growing up in an idealistic home, Sparrow Fisher is sheltered and innocent. When she meets Ian Sterling, a musician who is rising in popularity, she instantly falls for his charm. The attraction is instant, but their relationship isn't so simple.

At different places in their lives, Sparrow is off to college in New York, and Ian is traveling the country with the band. Over a five year span, Sparrow and Ian run into each other in unusual places. Each time, Sparrow has to decide if she can trust him, and if he feels the same for her. It’s hard to not get caught up in the magic they have together. Until something so devastating comes to light that threatens to shatter everything they’ve built with each other.

True Love Story is a story about the real highs and lows that come with a relationship - happiness, pain, angst - and finding out if love really is enough.

Where’s the depth?

I’m about halfway through and considering a DNF. The storyline is *okay*, but there is one glaring issue. The FMC can’t seem to be within a 5ft radius of ANY man without them falling at her feet and professing their love.

The whole story is just “hot girl gets male attention”. Everyone tells her how kind, lovable, and deep she is, but we’re never actually shown that. I think 75% of dialogue is about her appearance. She gets no character development. It’s hard to connect with any of the characters and fairly annoying.

True Love Story

I feel this book had so much potential. There were lots of “fade to black” key scenes in this book but overall it’s an enjoyable and captivating listen. The narration was top notch and very well performed!

MAGIC-pure and simple!!!!!!!!!

This was Willow's debut book (although it's not the first book I have read by her). I absolutely LOVE this story and everything about Willow's writing. I completely fell in love with Sparrow and Ian, and adored Tessa as well. This book really does have it all...a sweet love story that turns into some pretty serious angst and makes my heart hurt in the best way, and then puts it back together by the end and everything is as it should be. Sparrow and Ian go through so much together and each one of them goes through their own self discovery and do a lot of growing up throughout this book, which spans several years. Willow's writing has had the ability to get me out of a reading funk more times than not and then leave me with an incredible book hangover and this one is no exception and given that it's her debut book, I am completely blown away by it. Pure and simple MAGIC is on the pages of this book!!!! I'd love another book about Tessa and Jared. The narrator did an absolutely amazing job of making me believe in this story and making it come alive.

The story felt so long and unrewarding.

I enjoyed the twist but the groveling didn't work for me. If you are wanting a book specifically for groveling than buy a different book. By the end of this book I felt suffocated and wanted it to end. The fact that the groveling was made to push the characters away from each other instead of together damages my opinion of the character's. I don't believe they deserve to be together in the end after that twist. I needed the groveling to be epic to make up for a mistake that in my opinion shouldn't be forgiven. the narrator wasn't the best but wasn't the worse either, might of actually been the best part of the story.
