About this listen

On the eve of the London season, Jane Chance is about to make her entrance into high society. And after a childhood riddled with poverty and hardship, Jane intends to make a good, safe, and sensible marriage. All goes according to plan until a dark, dangerous vagabond helps her rescue a dog.

Zachary Black is all kinds of unsuitable - a former spy, now in disguise, he's wanted for murder. His instructions: to lie low until his name is cleared. But Zach has never followed the rules, and he wants Jane Chance for his own. If that means blazing his way into London society in whatever guise suits him, that's what he'll do.

Jane knows that she shouldn't fall in love with this unreliable if devastatingly attractive rogue. But Zach is determined - and he's a man accustomed to getting what he wants.

Loved Book 3!

I truly enjoyed book 3 of this series as much as the first 2. The narrator is excellent and adds a lot of depth to the story.

The third in the series and simply delightful! What a fabulous family of characters. Aunt Beatrice just gets better and better!

It wasn't bad...

It just wasn't great. I mostly enjoyed it, and I can't get enough of Lady Bea. And the story was engaging.

I definitely didn't enjoy the use of the word g*psy nor the general representation of Romani people. And based on when this book was published, I don't think there's a good justification for it. I also didn't enjoy the sermon about how love is as important in marriage as money and that there's more to a person than their looks. Like, a literal sermon. It wasn't necessary at all and took me completely out of the story. To top it off, the only spicy scene happened at the very end, after the wedding and after the conflict had been resolved. I'm a huge fan of spicy books - the spicier the better, generally - but each spicy encounter should move the story along in some way. The one in this book didn't do anything at all.

I liked the story of Jane and Zachary, their development individually and as a couple. And I may listen again. But this is definitely my least favorite book in the series.

Love This Series!!

I have, to date, read The Autumn Bride, The Winter Bride, & now The Spring Bride, leaving me the 4th, & last, book in this series, The Summer Bride. I had no idea or expectations when I first began listening to this series. I was pleasantly surprised & delighted at the wit & charm of the characters in each book. And the exceptionally skilled narration by Alison Larkin makes Anne Gracie's brilliantly written stories come alive.

Lovely 3rd installment

I am so pleased when a series follows a trajectory of good writing. This story was super fun, and light. Definitely recommend. I don’t really have a lot to say that isn’t just a repeat of what I, or others have said. So, I’ll just say, if you haven’t read the series yet, go start at book one. They all can do well as a stand alone book, but they’re so much more fun reading them in order.

I got this on sale for $3.41 and it was definitely worth it.

Great!!!!

I certainly enjoyed this book! I have read each of the series so far, and I am impressed - both by the author and the narrator. With each of the books, you are completely drawn into this world, and the character's lives.
I can't wait for Daisy and Flyn's story!

Loved, loved, loved it!

This third installment of the Chance sisters was every bit as good as the first two. The author has a delightful insight to the human condition. Her characters are rich and complex, charming, honest. I feel like I’ve known them for ages although more than a century separates us.
The reader was perfect, as well. I would highly recommend them to anyone who loves well written romance.

A nice continuation of the series

I love this series so far but, I feel like the story would have been just as enjoyable in fewer chapter.
