About this listen
Welcome to the new and improved Joliet Prison. It has cleaner restrooms, better food and a better way of life for all it's inmates. Of course, Lyle Seigel is not impressed. He's doing a stretch for grand larceny. All he has now is time with the other degenerates that inhabit the prison. But when he gets roped into a cleanup crew, the prison starts to change in odd ways. Now Lyle must find a way to protect himself in a world he hardly recognizes.

Opting to escape and fall into his work after a personal tragedy, officer Hawk ventures into the cold, desolate town of Holberg, Norway to attempt to uncover why multiple people have gone missing, with no obvious traces left behind except strange markings.

Story
It was supposed to be a holiday to fix the cracks in our fractured family. I knew the seven days would be endless, but I never imagined that one of us would only survive for six of them… As I carry my case into the charming and rustic cottage and smile at my sister-in-law, Kelli, I allow myself a moment of hope. Perhaps this holiday will force our family to address our long-held grudges and leave with the promise of a happier future.

This is the first time I’ve met them since my daughter and I fell out after she married that waste of space, Vince. They’ve come to live with me because their mother — my daughter — was murdered. Story
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Story
My fiancé brought me tea and scrambled eggs in bed that morning, and we snuggled together, talking about buying our rings, and about our perfect wedding next year. Then we headed into town. He held my hand and gazed at the ring I liked best, a smile spreading slowly over his face. Then a glass of bubbly to celebrate. I felt flushed, excited and ready for the rest of my life with the man I loved. We race to get on the train home. It screams to a halt and I run towards its open doors. Made it. I think he’s right behind me — but when I turn around, he’s gone.

Story
Tess Strebel can’t recognize her own face. She can’t recognize her home. Her bedroom is unfamiliar. And she can’t remember the handsome stranger lying next to her in bed. A stranger who claims he’s her husband. Tess reads a letter in her own handwriting, composed during a rare lucid day, explaining her life as it now exists: she was in a terrible car accident one year ago. Every morning, she wakes up unable to remember most of the last decade. Including her own wedding.

Ohhh YES! Sooo Good!
Lyle Seigel, convicted of grand larceny, is sent to Joliet Prison … not the Joliet of days past … the new and allegedly improved Joliet of the future … it’s not long before Lyle’s stay gets … odd. When the Warden chooses Lyle for a “special” job … odd gets a whole new definition! Constantly surprising, completely engrossing and deeply mysterious, I became completely absorbed in this story! Filled with unique, convincing, beautifully defined characters, the story plays out smoothly, perfectly paced to draw this listener into an intriguing, edgy web … was it real … or was something truly nefarious afoot …. I’ll not be telling! What I will say is the writing is superb, the characters deep, the narration authentic, and beyond fabulous! This entire production is deserving of five fantastic stars. I loved it and I’m still shivering!

Prison story
Sometimes it was hard to understand the narrator. I felt that the story was thin. The characters need to be just describe a little better.

Not My Wheelhouse....Now I Want It To Be
Not My normal genre, but I LOVED it. Even wrote the author thanking him for sharing this story with us. This story was amazing, both realistic and fantastic, and not at sll how I thought it was going to go originally, definitely recommend, 10 stars if I could!

Excellent listen.
Fiction or fantasy , I totally enjoy the journey. This was an emotional but enjoyable listen that quickly drew me in and kept my rapt interest. I couldn't figure out if part of it was a dream or not , but it was well worth the time and you might learn something like I did. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest opinion. The narrator did an excellent job bringing the characters and story to life. I highly recommend this book.

Sensational
Really well written. The author knows how to seamlessly weave intrigue and uncertainty into every chapter. I was not expecting the ending.

This book was interesting.
The premise of this book was there, but the story focused too much on the wrong things. It’s a short book, but all the interesting things happen in the very last hour. Not really exploring characters other than the main and interesting bits are passing comments. No spoilers but what’s sounds like the most interesting part at the end is not experienced but told back to the main character. Now the narrator was awesome! Great voice, amazing characters and I would listen to more books by him.
