About this listen

Alisha Rai returns with the first book in her sizzling new Modern Love series, in which two rival dating-app creators find themselves at odds in the boardroom but in sync in the bedroom.

Rhiannon Hunter may have revolutionized romance in the digital world, but in real life she only swipes right on her career - and the occasional hookup. The cynical dating app creator controls her love life with a few key rules:

  • Nude pics are by invitation only
  • If someone stands you up, block them with extreme prejudice
  • Protect your heart

Only there aren't any rules to govern her attraction to her newest match, former pro-football player Samson Lima. The sexy and seemingly sweet hunk woos her one magical night...and disappears.

Rhi thought she'd buried her hurt over Samson ghosting her, until he suddenly surfaces months later, still big, still beautiful - and in league with a business rival. He says he won't fumble their second chance, but she's wary. A temporary physical partnership is one thing, but a merger of hearts? Surely that’s too high a risk....

Good Story, No to the Male Narrator

I enjoyed this book okay, though rather typical in nature. However, I would have probably enjoyed it more with a different male narrator. By the 2nd chapter I already knew it would be a struggle to finish as his monotone voice was boring. I visualized lips of a comic strip character moving.

Swipe Right on this book

Cute breezy love story with a message. It does refer to SA so use caution.

Fun and Real

I really enjoyed the story. Dating is hard especially after going through a traumatic experience. Things aren't always as they seem. I identified with Samson with being out of his element. Been there done that. I loved that Ri was strong and intelligent and highlighted the crap that women especially BIPOC women have to deal with at school and in the workplace. I loved that no matter what she did what she wanted and succeeded. I loved the ending. Just loved it all. But even she learns that she doesn't have to be on or strong all the time which is a learning experience for BIPOC women alike. I was drawn from the very beginning and the characters backstories outside of each other solidified that.

Great read!!!

Just finished this audible story and I am so glad that I decided to listen. The story was great between the two main characters, Rhe and Samson. I loved the chemistry between them and the real issues that plagued them. Great job! Will definitely be looking for more from this author!

Absolutely lovely

Light and sweet. A nice, semi-complex love story. I won’t give it away but it gets better towards the end.

A TRUE Hallmark Movie Storyline

Such fully developed storylines that offer a number of life lessons about family and trust. I would love to see this on the small or BIG screen!

Realistic love

Often when contemporary books get into the modern age of swiping they portray characters as super cynical, hook up obsessed (then shame them for it which is dumb), or out of the way cruel. This book did an excellent job of portraying the characters in a very balanced way. Everyone’s thoughts and feeling were genuine and made sense. The conflicts the characters faced are complicated and the solution to these problems is done in a satisfying way with ought feeling like love saved the day. Also the diversity of characters is great the author and the narrators don’t rely on outdated stereotypes to portray the characters everyone is created in a very fleshed out way and I’ve said this a million times but everyone is super realistic and relatable. Definitely worth the buy especially if your looking for something that’s different, will make you think while still being enjoyable.

Cute

Cute and idealistic (in some aspects). A nice fluffy read; sweet, steamy, and full of strong female characters.

Great story, odd narrator choice

This was a great contemporary romance and I really appreciated the diversity of the characters but I was a bit disappointed that the narrator for Rhiannon isn’t a Black woman. I’m not sure why this choice was made and Summer Morton did a great job, but the story and character felt less authentic. It also made the importance of having a Black woman be the main character and fall in love feel sort of tainted. Otherwise I loved the book and really appreciated this modern love story! Wish I had read it instead of listening to the audiobook.
