About this listen

Xander Karcek has only wanted two things in his life: Christian Edwards and basketball—the man he loves and the game that let him escape a childhood he’d rather forget. His two obsessions have served him well. He and Chris beat the odds and stayed together through high school, college, and right on to the NBA. But life under fame’s microscope isn’t easy, especially when two men are pretending to be frat-buddies so the world doesn’t know they’re the next best thing to married. Their relationship survives the sacrifices they make and the lies they tell to stay together, but when their secret is exposed, the fallout might destroy them when nothing else could. Chris and basketball are the two things holding Xander together. Now the world is asking Xander to make a choice. Is there an option that includes a future with the man he loves?

Amazing read

This is now one of my all time favorite books, I love how captivating it is, it truly is a book you never want to put down. The author takes you on a story of truly romantic partners (Chris and Xander) their outlook on life, their history together, this truly is the “Golden Rule” for relationships, this is the relationship that everyone, including myself yearn for. You feel one with the characters the entire time thru all of the ups and the downs that they have to go thru you are right there with them along for the ride. My one and only negative thing I have to say is that for everyone who doesn’t like to make up their own ending for a book (myself included) please tell us how this ends. I wish this book had a sequel and or a film adaptation but unfortunately neither one exists. So if you are looking for a book to grab you in from the first page til the last then look no further than The Locker Room by Amy Lane you will not be disappointed.

I always forget Amy Lane’s style

I really need to stop listening to Amy Lane. I always love the books but they piss me off so much. There’s always way more heart ache than I prefer in books (or anything else) but because she writes them so well I forget until I’ve already been sucked into the book. Please don’t listen to this if you aren’t ready to see two people torture themselves by making horrible decisions to try and make the other happy and only hurting each other. Although this was a little lighter than others I’ve listened to it was still hard. If you don’t mind crying and wanting to punch the main characters then go ahead. Geez, I really hate giving this a 4 stars because I hated it but loved the characters she made and the way she wrote and the narrator so much I can’t give it any less even though I will not be listening to it again.

Excellent book with so much basis in truth

Amy Lane is a lovely writer, I'm no writer - this is the story of things that are all too common - and it tears at my heart to know that there are children out there - fighting for their survival and clinging to the hope of love. Beautiful story Amy - my favorite of yours so far is Bonfires - but you have many that resonate with me and stir my heart - draw me in. I look forward to your next book! PS LOVE SEAN CRISDEN as a narrator - he is one of my go to's! Thank you!

Great overall

I was hesitant about this because of the title but every time Xander and Chris’s relationship moved forward you couldn’t help but be excited for them. The narrator is amazing, in the more intimate moments of the story it was like straight up listening to a porn ASMR and he did a great job not just at the smut but consistently convincing me that both Chris and Xander meant everything to each other. The only criticism I have was the annoying as fuck bass guitar on the beginning of every chapter it is so cringe and takes me out of the moment but other than that it’s very good.

great story - bad narration

Would you consider the audio edition of The Locker Room to be better than the print version?

NO - and I have both

Who was your favorite character and why?

I love both MCs, but I liked Leo too

What didn’t you like about Michael Anthony’s performance?

the sound effects sounded superficial and fake, should have not been done.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Both

Any additional comments?

I love Amy Lane's books, I wish this one's narration was better because the story is wonderful.

Amazing... the end?

I really like this story... Great from beginning until the very last sentence, then the end... what? I just don't get it...I was so upset about the end..and that is why no five stars...

Crisden is one amazing narrator... I love anything he reads...
