About this listen
A bundle of audiobooks Murder in The Manor (Book One) and Death and a Dog (Book Two), in Fiona Grace’s Lacey Doyle cozy mystery series. This bundle offers audiobooks one and two in one convenient file.
In Murder in The Manor (Book One), Lacey Doyle, 39 years old and freshly divorced, needs a drastic change. She needs to quit her job, leave her horrendous boss and New York City, and walk away from the fast life. Making good on her childhood promise to herself, she decides to walk away from it all, and to relive a beloved childhood vacation in the quaint English seaside town of Wilfordshire. Wilfordshire is exactly as Lacey remembers it, with its ageless architecture, cobblestone streets, and with nature at its doorstep. Lacey doesn’t want to go back home - and spontaneously, she decides to stay, and to give her childhood dream a try: She will open her own antique shop. Lacey finally feels that her life is taking a step in the right direction - until her new star customer turns up dead. As the newcomer in town, all eyes are on Lacey, and it’s up to her to clear her own name.
In Death and a Dog (Book Two), spring is in the air. With last month’s murder mystery behind Lacey, a new best friend in her English shepherd, and a budding relationship with the chef across the street, it seems like everything’s finally settling into place. Lacey is so excited for her first major auction, especially when a valuable, mystery artifact enters her catalogue. All seems to go without a hitch, until two mysterious bidders arrive from out of town - and one of them winds up dead. With the small village plunged into chaos, and with the reputation of her business at stake, can Lacey and her trusty dog partner solve the crime and restore her name?

Story
Tara never imagined her introduction to Ireland like this - carrying her mam's ashes to honor her final request: "Tell Johnny I'm sorry.... Take me home." She's never met her mam's estranged brother, Johnny Meehan, who owns an architectural salvage business in Galway. Although Tara is immediately charmed by the medieval city, the locals seem wary of strangers, and a gypsy warns her that death is all around. When Tara arrives at her uncle's stone cottage, the prophesy seems true. A dead man lies sprawled over the threshold in a pool of blood.

It's the perfect literary retreat - until a rare-book dealer turns up dead in the carriage house during a celebration of Golden Age mystery author Josephine Tey. The victim's daughter points the finger at 42-year-old widow and former schoolteacher Charlotte Reed, who inherited the B&B from her great-aunt Isabella.

Lovely story. Narrator too breathy.
I enjoyed the story very much. The narrator on the other hand is too breathy and not great with the different characters. The main character is a New York woman. Her voice should be stronger and more succinct.

Keeps you guessing
Really good stories. I wish both narrator's had attempted an American accent for Lacey.

Interesting plot lines
The recording in book 1 was poor quality. It kept jumping around. Liked the plots of both books, the characters and the description of the towns. overall very captivating and well written

Well, I really like a protagonist who is not silly
I really dislike a protagonist who makes stupider mistakes than I personally would. A book that makes me feel smart just for reading (or listen) to it is a blessing. This one just made me feel stupid for continuing the read.

Disappointed.
Vapid, not too bright heroine. Difficult to care about any of the characters or situation. Unlikely timeline and motivation. Narration tedious. I don’t intend to listen to the second installment.

Not my cup of tea
I usually like cozy mysteries, but this one doesn't cut it! Too many things that don't add up. The narration of the second book was ok, but the first one was awful. I don't know if the reader was an American trying to put on an English accent or the other way around; in any case I don't think it worked.
