About this listen

Wife to a gambler who took one too many risks, Rahab finds herself sold as a slave to cover her husband's debt. Forced into prostitution, she despairs of ever regaining her freedom and her self-respect. But when Israelite spies enter Jericho and come to lodge at her house, Rahab sees a glimmer of hope and the opportunity of a lifetime. In one risky moment, she takes a leap of faith, puts her trust in a God she does not know, and vows to protect the spies from the authorities.

When the armies of Israel arrive weeks later, Rahab hopes they will keep their promise, but she has no idea what kind of challenges await her outside Jericho's walls - or if she will ever know the meaning of love.

Under Jill Eileen Smith's talented hand, the familiar story of Rahab bursts forth in high definition. Immerse yourself in a world of dark and dusty streets, clandestine meetings, and daring escapes as a mysterious biblical figure claims her full humanity - and a permanent place in your heart.

The Book is Very Good, Not the Performance

I like this author a lot. I wish she would have used a different narrator. The narrator sounded like a robot. It made it hard to listen to. The story is very good. So it was disappointing to have the narration so bad.

Nice story, good character development

I too always wondered how Rahab might have ended up where she was - God works all things to good, this was an interesting and plausible scenario

Excellent!

This is a beautifully written story!! The narration was also really well done. I couldn’t stop listening to this one and look forward to the next in the series.

Rahab

This is the first book I’ve read on Rahab. I truly enjoyed this rendition and the authors honesty, and I love seeing how God would have worked through her situations to bring her to him.

Rahab really came to life!

The author did a wonderful job developing the characters and giving us an in depth look at what life may have been like then. Her focus on the internal struggles of each individual really immerses the reader in the story and gives a view from all sides. The narration was a major disappointment. It lacked emotion and natural flow, and is the only thing that prevented a five star rating.

What a great story!

I am impressed with anyone who can weave a story from a small amount of Scripture, a LARGE portion of research, and their imagination. It's simply amazing.

I am not one to enjoy romances. My opinion is that romance is fictitious in and of itself. Romance novels, however, create unrealistic expectations within relationships. Thus, with my rather humbug view of said topic, I was grateful there was not a copious amount of this.

I would like to add a brief note about the reader. Although she was not a perfect reader, she did do quite well. To me, she did quite well.

While there are rare readers I cannot abide with, I can honestly give a rough approximation that 93% of readers do well enough, with around 20% of those being stamped in my mind as performers, and only half of those qualify as cream-of-the crop, if you will.

This particular reader did a fine job. Not within the desired 20% range, but she easily could be mapped on the scale at 80%, of which I carry no qualm. With such readers, I delightfully choose to adjust any expectations to that of the average fourth-grade child who raptoriously listens to their teacher read from Peppermints in the Parlor or their parents reading Bible stories for the young at bedtime. I find that this mindset is less galling to the nerve and more palatable than the bile-like remarks that some "raters trail behind themselves.

Ha ing said that, thank you to the one who took the time and effort to read this book. I certainly would not have done such a fine job. Because of your service, I was able to enjoy yet another story.

a powerful story of redemption & faith!

This book was a great way to get across the word of God & the love of God... and the deep sin of man.
