About this listen

I spent college worrying about responsibilities and earning my teaching degree, so before graduation and moving to Atlanta with my best friend, Ross, I figure I deserve a little fun. I’ve never been with an older man, but the guy at the bar grabs my attention and doesn’t let go…for multiple rounds, all night long.

The next day, when Ross introduces me to his dad, the last thing I expect is for him to be my hookup from the night before, in town from Atlanta for his son’s graduation.

The best thing would be to pretend it never happened, which is easier said than done. The more I talk to Harrison, the more I like him. We enjoy teasing each other, spending time together, and despite how successful he is, we both know what it’s like to have nothing. Neither of us wants a relationship, so when Harrison suggests a no-strings-attached fling, it’s perfect.

But between bills, worrying about Mom, and wondering how I thought I had what it takes to be a good teacher, Harrison’s always there, even when it’s hard for me to accept help.

Falling for Harrison wasn’t part of the agreement.

I don’t know how to trust, there’s a 17-year age difference, and he’s my best friend’s dad.

No-strings-attached has never been so difficult, because I’m pretty sure I want to be tied to Harrison for good.

Moved to Tears

Through much of No Strings I was fascinated by the depth of emotion and the burgeoning friendship and the depth of love and acceptance of family. The sex was bad either. This is one of the people tells all that I will miss and long to meet a man who will love me and share my life.

Another Great Riley Hart delivery

What feels more forbidden than 'best friend's ______' trope? Not much, best friend's brother/sister, best friend's ex....try best friend's DAD!

The setup in the beginning was great, albeit a bit unbelievable - am I suppose to believe that Harrison NEVER visited his son at school? What was meant to be a one night stand, celebrate finishing a huge achievement in my life for Zander turns into a personal hell the very next day.

I can't personally understand the draw these two have with such an age gap, but I can't relax into the story and put my personal misgivings aside. In this particular story the conventions are a bit swapped - Zander is younger but has so much past trauma that he feels like the more senior soul in the couple; Harrison falls and is worried about scaring Zander away too fast. I was expecting some more societal pushbacks due to past Riley Hart novels inserting the public opinion of homosexual relationships, but was pleasantly surprised that wasn't a primary plot drive in this story.

Should mention I whipsersynced this book and listened to Iggy Toma bring both these men to life. I love him in his voice as Harrison...it's the same he uses for all his more 'senior/serious' characters and it just sounds like warm honey. Would I have liked this to be dual with 2 narrators, maybe, but I didn't feel like it too away from the story. Iggy always gives good MM performance :)

Such sweetness

Such a beautiful, fun story. I love seeing a best friend’s dad romance without all the drama of the best friends being angry. It was so refreshing to have Ross who is Xander’s best friend accept them. And in fact is quite funny with his teasing.
I loved both these characters immediately. Xanders passion for teaching and starting his professional life. And I love how Harrison is so kind and supportive and giving to everyone in his life.
Iggy Toma’s narration as usual is outstanding. I love seeing him bring these characters to life.

Wonderful!

Revisited this gem on audio and Iggy Toma was just sublime. He brought Harrison and Zander to life just capturing all the banter, emotions, and love perfectly!

I loved absolutely everything about this book! From the first page to the last. It was just lovely. It made me laugh, it made my heart happy, and it made me feel good! Riley Hart just excels at writing character driven stories where I get immersed in their lives and don't want to stop reading about them. Harrison was just such an amazing character--wonderful father, great friend, kind, caring, and just an all around great person. Zander was more complex, kept himself more bottled up, didn't want to trust or let anyone in, but was such a kind soul who just needed to allow someone to love him.
I enjoyed every second of their time together. There was fabulous dialogue, sharp-witted banter, smoking hot times, and so many swoony moments with all the feelings! There was also a fantastic cast of supporting characters that were all so wonderful, with Ross leading the pack for me. I just loved him!
If you want a low-angst, feel good, put a smile on your face and make you laugh out loud book, with a fabulous HEA, grab this! Highly recommend!

beautiful

combine Riley Hart words with Iggy Toma narration and its pure love and 🥰 perfection. Iggy gives both Harrison & Zander such distinct voices its truly heartwarming.
on to the story itself this is not my usual trope but Riley does it in a way that's truly unique and a lot of it had to do with Ross (the best friend of Zander and son of Harrison) he is so understanding and charismatic encouraging the relationship because he can even see these 2 souls belong together ❤️.

Teachers Rock

Iggy Toma and Riley Hart together is perfect perfection. I loved that Zander had such a passion for teaching. As a teacher myself it is not any easy job and often times such a challenge to motivate students! Thanks Riley for showing a true side of teachers! We know going in we’ll never get rich but we are enriching the lives of those we see every day!

really liked

I loved this. The characters had personality and the growth was gradually without being annoying or drawn out. There were a bunch of hot scenes but even more cute and wholesome ones. I really enjoyed this book and the narrator has a really nice voice too.
