About this listen

I don't know when it happened. I didn't think it'd ever happen. I can't lose her. I can't even imagine losing her.

Rule number six: This is supposed to be fun. Understand?

He's my bad boy and I'm his good girl.

And, yes, he's my stepbrother and I'm his stepsister.

He wasn't always, though. We aren't just that. There's a lot more to us.

Sometimes you need to follow your heart, or else you'll regret it for the rest of your life. You don't always have a choice in who you fall in love with.

Sometimes you can't be perfect. You just have to be yourself. Sometimes that's what makes you perfect.

Wow

A great book I can’t wait to read the next in the series I was hooked from the beginning

And now…

We are finally getting to the heart of things. Conversations are happening and thoughts and feelings are coming out.

Ashley’s mom seems to be taking this all in stride and Ethan is going after what he wants. Jake is an a$$hole so it will be interesting to see how that plays out in the next few books and to see how Ethan’s dad will react to them.

We’re only halfway through the series and it’s been less than a week so it should be interesting to see how things progress.

I’m invested now, the self-deprecation and internal monologue was a little better in this book. Maybe as they get happier the thoughts will get better too?

The steam has been great and frequent ;).

Finally

I seriously despise Ashley's ex-boyfriend! He's a jerk and I'm hopeful that he's totally out of the picture now.

I'm happy with where this is going and the future of the relationship. These characters are growing on me.

Sharing Soup and Airplanes

Dirty, dirty, dirty. 🥳 Of course, there's more to Ethan and Ashley than romps but those are fun and dirty. I like how Ethan grows, even if slowly, and the parental units are also making strides of different kinds. Ashley's mom is hilarious!

I listened to an author's copy of the audio book with CJ Bloom and James Cavenaugh leading the charge. Both are well suited for the characters. If there was one thing I could change, it'd be that the books were done in duet narration. Second thing I might change would be CJ's version of Ashley's mom's voice. It sounds more grandmotherly than a woman likely in her 40s.

Stepbrother With Benefits!

This is the sixth read/listen in the series, this is a long series of listens so I am wondering where this going. You do need to enjoy them in order. This is the continued story of Ethan and Ashley's journey. The continued journey between the two and their continued stepsiblings with benefits relationship that has a surprising turn in this one. In the last story a curveball was thrown when a text message is sent to the wrong person and blackmail is the result. I love how the douche bag is handled in this one, but I don't think we have heard the last of him yet. Ethan declares himself in the story and thing become a little more serious between them. I love how he goes all alpha protective in the story. These two are entertaining as they spare with each other. Such a fun read. I love her mother and her perspective. I cannot wait for the next one.

big realization

Ethan' s rough behavior shined bright in this volume. Though he kept saying he wasn't bright , I thought he was amazingly smart in this segment. this was opposite the book-smart Ashley. RealIy captured my interest, as I was expecting a different reaction from Ethan or different path to this story. (NOTE: A little annoying both forgot something).

stepbrother romance

Ashley and Ethan's story continues. Ashley was blackmailed by her ex boyfriend. The ex boyfriend was going to expose Ashley and Ethan's relationship unless she came to him and did everything he wanted. Ashley pretended to be sick and didn't tell Ethan or her mom. Ashley felt backed into a corner and felt she had no other choice but to do it. Thank goodness Ethan figured it out and saves the day. This episode sees a lot of change for Ethan. Ethan is acting like the dutiful boyfriend. They both are a little scared to go home and face the consequences. When they get home their parents aren't there but they each have a letter from their parent. Ashley's mom has actually figured it out. Spoiler here but Ethan actually calls Ashley's mom and asks permission to date her daughter. At the very end they both tell each other how they feel. Can Ethan make the relationship last for more than a few weeks? Will he push Ashley away like he has every other girl? That remains to be seen.

Keeps getting better

Ashley goes to meet with Jake, who’s blackmailing her so he won’t spill the secret about her and Ethan. They’re both in for a huge shock at the airport. The big surprise of the book is Ashley’s mother - nobody fools mom. I love Ethan’s comments that are made to the listener (or reader). He doesn’t care what anyone thinks about him; he’s so confident in himself. And as book-smart as Ashley is, she’s a bit lacking in the common sense department. They’re steaming hot together! CJ Bloom and James Cavenaugh continue to impress me with their narration.

the bad boy and his step brain!

I'm obsessed with this series! It's something about the narrators and their comedic timing plus the fabulous writing of course. I wind up cracking up like a crazy person! It's sweet and swoony, funny and steamy!

I love how this is sort of the end on the first part of the story. Obviously their are a ton more but if it were a show it'd be the end of season 1lol.

Can't wait to devour more!.

Oh no

Jake decides to be a jerk and use Ashley. But that isn’t going to happen. At least not if Ethan has anything to say about it. Things turn serious and now Ashley’s mom knows how is that going to change everything. I can’t wait for the next volume. Ashley and Ethan’s journey is worth the ride.
