Michael J. Fox
About this listen
Combining his trademark ironic sensibility and keen sense of the absurd, he recounts his life, from his childhood in a small town in western Canada to his meteoric rise in film and television, which made him a worldwide celebrity. Most importantly, however, he writes of the last 10 years, during which, with the unswerving support of his wife, family, and friends, he has dealt with his illness. He talks about what Parkinson's has given him: the chance to appreciate a wonderful life and career, and the opportunity to help search for a cure and spread public awareness of the disease. He is a very lucky man, indeed.

Beloved stage and screen actor Danny Aiello’s big-hearted memoir reveals a man of passion, integrity, and guts - and lays bare one of the most unlikely success stories ever told. Danny Aiello admits that he backed into his acting career by mistake. That’s easy to see when you begin at the beginning: Raised by his loving and fiercely resilient mother in the tenements of Manhattan and the South Bronx, and forever haunted by the death of his infant brother, Danny struggled early on to define who he was and who he could be.

Wonderful sense of humor on this man...
This is a story a true story of love and struggle and finding oneself when fame came one's way at a young age. A person could get lost. I especially though liked the stories of what he was like as a tike! It was like this man was born to be an entertainer. Overall it's a love story and it's about sticking together in sickness and health...with a ton of funny and surprising things in between. I enjoyed it immensely. 4.5 stars if we could give half stars.

Thank you to Micheal J. Fox for being genuine.
I don't usually write reviews but I feel compelled to do so after listening to Lucky Man by Micheal J. Fox. My mom has been showing signs for years but recently was diagnosed of Parkinson's Disease. Therefore, my mom placed this book on her Christmas list. I had not heard about the author's books but decided to read/listen with my mom so we could talk about what we had read. I appreciated the author's true and very honest characterizations of his situations, his alcoholism, career anxieties and the diagnosis of P.D. Hearing the author narrate the book and use everyday language, made his situation very real to me and empathize with my mother. I am looking forward to starting the second book and continuing my quest to learn more about how P.D. effects those with the disease and how I can help. A huge thank you to Micheal for bringing P.D. awareness to my life.

Great insight of Parkinsons
Michael J Fox has always been a favorite actor of mine. I've followed him since he played Alex in Family Ties. He holds a special place in my heart since my Daddy passed away from Parkinson's. Hearing Michael's struggles and comparing them to similar things my Daddy went through, brought tears to my eyes. I am thankful for Michael bringing this disease to light and for all the work he is doing to find a cure.
Thank you for sharing your story Michael!
