About this listen

What does it mean to be a Kennedy? If ever three women would be challenged and changed by marriage into a family, it would be Jacqueline Bouvier, Ethel Skakel, and Joan Bennett. None of these radiant brides could have ever been prepared for the fame, the family, and tragedies that would spring from their lives. As they struggled to cope with their husbands' infidelities, the harsh glare of the media, and the assassinations of John and Robert Kennedy, these women would learn what it meant to be sisters, reaching out to one another with comfort and consolation. But these sisters would also compete with one another, argue, and find themselves estranged, sometimes for years.

Based on extensive research, interviews, and never-before-published oral histories from the JFK and LBJ Libraries, this groundbreaking biography presents a balanced, affectionate, and fascinating portrayal of three extraordinary women - and shows us their courage, passion, and will to be a family.

my first Kennedy book

It was okay. I totally wanted more gossip and they could have added more of the Kennedy women but it gave a good picture of these three and their lives married to the Kennedy brothers.

Fluff Piece on the Kennedy Women~3 STARS....

PLOT: FLUFFY SOAPY piece on the Kennedy Women.

this is better than I expected from this author who is the fluff piece story teller. But he pieces the stories of Jackie, Ethel and Joan pretty well. this is told more like a story with good details and is both entertaining and will keep you interested.

Push through it...

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

No.

Would you be willing to try another book from J. Randy Taraborrelli? Why or why not?

Only if it was a novel - I don't think he's a reliable/accurate source of info.

How could the performance have been better?

If the narrator READ instead of acted/performed.

Any additional comments?

The author recounts conversations (very poorly acted out by the narrator), that he has no way of knowing if they ever even took place - let alone what the content of the conversation may have been. This book is more fiction than fact, I suspect.

#MyNonFictionAddiction

Interesting women enduring an even more interesting era! Told with an authentic narrative, the story is nothing short of inspirationally unique.
