About this listen

From USA Today Bestselling author K Webster and Nikki Ash, comes a modern telling of a classic tale.

This isn’t a typical love story. This is a story of what happens when love is so powerful and all-consuming that it has the ability to destroy everyone involved. It’s definitely not pretty and it’s certainly not a fairytale, but it’s their story and it couldn’t be told any other way.

The way they weaved the three storylines together was brilliant.

By the time I got to the end of this audiobook, my thoughts were that this was brilliant writing from these two authors. Totally not what I was expecting. They are an incredible writing team and I've enjoyed reading their books before. But I'm not going to lie, the first part of this audiobook, I absolutely HATED. Warning: cheating that made me sick. I completely disliked the first two characters as well as their story. I do not feel anything, but disgust, for either of them. I didn't think I'd continue, and then it happened. We are getting three generations of story in this book. I became so engrossed that I didn't want to pause it. I came to love the next four characters/two couples in the story. This is a story that had to build. The way they weaved the three storylines together was brilliant. I became invested. I'm certain I'll listen to it again in the future, skipping some parts, but still worthy of a relisten!

Lexi Evans and Logan Anare are excellent narrators. They gave us an emotional performances that had the audiobook rolling like a movie in my head.

Enjoyable!

The narrators did a really good job giving the characters a voice and telling this story. Even though I couldn't stand Theo and his annoying whiny voice.

This is a retelling of Wuthering Heights, I never read the classic but may need to read it. This is an interesting, entertaining story told about the love triangle between two generations to the third generation while she is dealing with her own love triangle. This story deals with the choices between love and money, revenge, obsession, deceit, lies and secrets. This is a bit different than I'm used to in a Nikki Ash story but just enjoyed it as the others.

A Dark Spicy Wuthuring Heights Retelling

This is a dark Wuthering heights retelling, I really enjoyed this, I loved when Nikki ash and K webster write together. The story is always amazing, lots of good spice and a great storyline. The only thing was I had a terrible time getting into it cause of the narrators, I wasn’t a big fan of there narration but that’s just my personal preference!Once I finally got into it I couldn’t stop listening!

Lots of thought went into this one but not my cup of tea.

Arrrg! This one was good up to a point then it just went creepy. I was rooting for Heath but he went too dark and too evil for me. The blurb is very non telling which is fine but maybe a trigger warning or two would have been helpful. This is a complex story full of drama! I really feel this one could have been a soap opera. I listened to this on audio. Lexi Evans and Logan Anare are the narrators and they both did a wonderful job.

Brilliant Story & Listen~Dark,Twisted & Addictive!

Wow, this book is absolutely brilliant, and since the blurb was brief and vague, I was not sure what to expect, but knowing that Nikki Ash and K. Webster wrote it was enough for me to dive in and the story blew me away like no other. And there is a reason for the brief blurb, the less you know going in the better, just be prepared for a wonderfully told story, definitely not your typical love story, but one that hooks you right in and captivates you attention in such a way that nothing else matters except what is going to happen next in the book. I loved the unique way the story was told, the writing, plot and world building are phenomenal, as are the character growth and development. Heath, sigh. A man on a mission, a dark and twisted mission, who is out for revenge, driven by anger and rage, so much so it consumed him. That is all I will say, despite him not being the only lead character, and not everything is because of him, at least not in the beginning, but it is in the end. The authors created and weaved a complex web, intertwining all characters and their lives. I loved the originality of this dark and twisted story, the drama, angst, heartfelt emotions, and steamy romance. Nikki Ash and K. Webster, thank you for this amazing story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 Lexi Evans and Logan Anare were the perfect cast to bring these characters and story to life. They did an amazing job portraying the characters, giving each a voice that suited them to a tee. I loved how they took their roles and owned them, sounding believable and just as I imagined the characters to sound. They set the right tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling every single one. These entertaining storytellers made a great team and their performance enhanced this already amazing story to another level. Thank you for another exceptional listen.

A Bloomed Love That Wuthers and Roots Revenge

If you are a fan or have ever been curious what the classic “Wuthering Heights” is all about, this modern-ish retelling follows its core story beats pretty steadily, but with a few changes. Even several of the names are the same or similar.

The writing style of this book is excellently done. I’ve listened to a handful of Nikki Ash’s work and very much enjoyed them. The two authors play with words in engaging ways, like doing onomatopoeias at least in each of the past chapters, them weaving this in to create a word pattern of word splendor. Tap, tap, tap.

I will say, although the writing style was captivating, they did not state when the past sections were. In a story that depends on the past to tell the tale as a whole, I don’t think stating a general time for those parts hurts to keep the book from being dated. It made me feel less connected honestly. I did some math based on the publication date (2018) and a few clues and realized the past parts were set in the late 1950s/early 1960s, for those who wanted to know like me. Ha.

I also agree with several of the other reviews; some trigger warnings should have been stated at the beginning for there are some topics expressed here that could easily make someone uncomfortable.

I will say, the first couple is hard to root for, showing the seeds of obsession love can sprout. But I feel that’s the point. The power of love is critical here.

I did like the other two couples. The second one was composed in lovely ways that resounded in me. And how our third lady processed her feelings was really engaging and pure, fitting a modern audience. There were some parts here that truly made me gasp in shock and awww with touched tears.

If you want drama, this work has it in spades! And both Lexi Evans and Logan Anare performed every emotion with a profoundness that thumped in your soul. They pulled you into this universe of bitter sweetness, of heat and spice (and indeed, there is PLENTY of hot intimacy scenes.) It was raw and edgy, forgiving and full of discovery, them giving it their all at every moment.

Love and lust at its best.

Tragic (Hurts so good!!)

This was a really interesting approach to a dark read and vengeful character, almost with multiple stories merged into one. It made for a fun experience and prompted me to respect both authors for their execution.

It managed to show how people break, and get so consumed in their brokenness that they make poor choices … and it showed how people can come to make questionable choices in other circumstances. It showed the difference between happiness due to true love and manufactured happiness / settling.

❤️‍🩹 Provoked thought.
💔 Packed in heartache.
❤️‍🩹 Tragedy.
💔 Second chances.
❤️‍🩹 Extortion / scandal.
💔 Tales of vengeance and lifelong grudges.

🥀 Overall:
Sad … and so well done. Might even re-listen down the line.
4 stars.

🎧 Audio:
Excellent—both narrators sounded amazing for pretty much the entire book. There were a few male parts where a different voice was repeatedly spliced in—unfortunately it was a steamy scene so sort of a vibe-killer. But outside of that, flawless. Amazing performances from both narrators and great overall sound quality. 4.5 stars. 🦩

Heath!!!

dude WTF!!! okay let me just start with saying this book was actually good. It is a Tragic story, but also the female character is a selfish little girl/women. Heath's love interest was such a selfish little brat. I hated her. okay at first you feel sorry for but then you learn about her selfish way and I swear 🤬 I was wish I could jump into this book and give her a smack down. oh man I've hated character before. but this one here, I promise the stuff I really want ti say can not be said. But other then that this story was really good and it was also very well written. even though I hate the women/Mother in this story I so would recommend and listen to again.

Revenge plot

3.5

I haven't read Wuthering Heights and I seen this is a retelling of it. I did go into it completely blind. I enjoy the writing of both these authors so I was surprised I didn't enjoy this story as much as I had hoped. I wasn't able to connect to the characters, but it is an interesting plot. Definitely give it a chance if you haven't already. You might end up loving it.

I did the audio. These are new to me narrators. They did a good job bringing the characters to life
