About this listen

An unusual girl. An enigmatic man. An ancient castle. What could go wrong?

An outcast her entire life, Corvina Clemm is left adrift after losing her mother. When she receives the admission letter from the mysterious University of Verenmore, she accepts it as a sign from the universe. The last thing she expects though is an olden, secluded castle on top of a mountain riddled with secrets, deceit, and death.

An enigma his entire life, Vad Deverell likes being a closed book while knowing exactly everything that happens in the university. A part-time professor working on his thesis, Vad has been around long enough to know the dangers the castle possesses. The moment he crosses paths with Corvina, he knows she is a danger to everything that he is.

They shouldn't have caught each other's eye. They cannot be. But a chill-inducing century-old mystery forces them to collide. People have disappeared every five years for over a hundred years. Corvina is getting clues to unravel it all, and Vad needs to keep an eye on her.

So begins a tale of the mystique, the morbid, the macabre, and a deep love that blossoms in the unlikeliest of places.

Meh, got kinda bored

This book started out with the plot moving to slow. I hated the FMC and I feel like nothing substantial happened until half way through the book. Wouldn’t waste a credit if I could go back.

Not good but not bad.

Gothikana is atmospheric but it had cheesy dialogue. At the end, it was okay. Not good but not bad.

Loved it

This is the first gothic romance I’ve listened to and I loved it. A mix of mystery, thriller, and off the roof chemistry. Oh and the spice was off the charts!

Absolutely Captivating Dark Forbidden Romance! A Must Listen!

Corvina Clemm has spent most of her life secluded from others with a single mom who spent most of her time listening to the voices in her head. Now she’s alone and begging for a sign from the universe to decide what’s next. When she received an acceptance letter from the mysterious University of Verenmore, she takes it as her sign.

Verenmore is an ancient gothic castle with a dark and mysterious history that has bled into present day. It’s there she meets the enigmatic, Vad Deverell who is part time professor and quickly becomes her full time obsession. They can’t be together and yet they can’t stay away. When death visits Verenmore again they must figure out who or what is causing the disappearances and deaths before it’s too late for one of them.

Drop everything and download this audio. I’ve been meaning to read this one forever and I’m so glad I procrastinated on doing it until the audio came out because this is hands down one of the best narrated books I have ever listened to. The female narrator was so captivating and entrancing that I couldn’t put this listen down. I was instantly sucked into the mystery and the forbidden love story and I never wanted this one to end. She perfectly captured Corvina and even had me second guessing if it was real or if she was falling into the same madness as her mother. We didn’t get many chapters with the male narrator but the ones we did were spectacular as well.

I cannot recommend this audiobook highly enough. It’s easily a top listen of the year and I know I’m going to be relistening in the near future.

Loved the story

I loved the story, though I didn’t love the narrator. She was a bit too breathy which gave porn vibes sometimes lol; the mystery and suspense aspect of the story caught me off guard and I thought it had a great twist. Would definitely recommend for people that like a lighter dark romance, not such an aggressive age gap & want a short/fun read.

Women trying to sound manly 👎🏻

It could have been great had Aiden Snow read a bit more of the story, or at least certain parts with him in it. It’s hard to concentrate on the story when she tries to sound manly. Some bits were incredibly predictable, too.

Breathy whisper Narration. Very entertaining story

Narration
Type:Dual Narration
Speed: 1.5x
Aiden Snow's narration is always lovely to hear even if it was a little spurts throughout the book. It made you tense every time that it was his turn to give you his POV. Scarlett Dorian's narration was very entertaining since she had to do all the characters in her chapter and she did it well. Of course there were moments that made me eye roll but it was still very entertaining.

Story
FMC: Corvina Clemm a.k.a witch
MMC: Vad Deverell a.k.a devil
This story was pretty good, i wouldn't stay its one of my top reads but it was filled with everything that i love. A brooding MMC, a mystery murder, a strong FMC, dark academia, and the character growth. I loved how the story itself was written, very descriptive that makes you feel like you were there. Was this a literary masterpiece? not at all. But it was entertaining and kept me wanting to see how it ends. I wish that i could learn more of a few characters, especially Ajax.

Narration was mid

No enough Aiden Snow. Listening to her pretend male voice is actually infuriating. It makes me cringe. It’s awful. She makes him sound like a hideous old man.
