About this listen

Obsession is the deadliest vice.

Carrera.

A word whispered in fear. A name to avoid at all costs. Until I come face-to-face with it.

Abducted. Held against my will. Prisoner of a war I know nothing about.

Captive to a ruthless cartel prince who wants more than my freedom.... He wants me.

I should hate him…. But the deeper Valentin drags me into his bloodstained world, the harder it becomes to resist.

Until that stain? That blood? It becomes mine…. And I'm no longer a prisoner of war.

I am the war.

3 STARS

Overall I liked this book it kept me interested until the end. There are a few moments when I really felt bad for Cereza (nickname given by H). Lots of action and close calls. It was a little too insta-love for me. I needed more of an actual relationship to develop between the two main characters before the L word was thrown around. That’s the reason I’m rating it 3 stars, which for me means I liked it but didn’t love it. I was just missing that spark and chemistry that makes you swoon when the couple is together. The plus is that even though this is a series it’s also a standalone and the next book I believe is a different couple. There is a story ARC that I’m assuming will continue on with the next book.

Narration was great! I enjoyed the accents and the fact there was two male narrators. This book is told in multiple POVs.

Riveting!!!💜

Absolutely brilliant. From the moment I started this book I was on the edge of my seat. Exciting, angsty, mysterious and just the right amount of sex. I loved that the heroine was not portrayed as innocent and naive. Twists and turns throughout the entire book kept it exciting. The narration was absolutely perfect. I’m a sucker for a great accent and the Hispanic accent was so hot. 🔥🔥 All the narrators did a fantastic job bringing these characters to life. Well done everyone!! This is book 1 with an HEA.
I highly recommend this book!

An intriguing story of danger and love

When this book first started, I was not sure if I would like it. But the more I listen the more I got into the book. Eden is a harden character and does not take any shit. Val is part of a cartel and criminal but he was hard not to like. Not all side are black and white and you can he is not evil. He loves Eden with all his heart. There is nonstop action in the book from beginning to end. Eden deals with one trail to another but comes out stronger. Sarah Puckett does an amazing job narrating Eden. You feel everything single thing that Eden is feeling especially why went down with Nash.

Sexy as hell

This book is about the relationship between Eden, a sassy, damaged, bartender and Valentino (Val) a suave, sexy cartel boss. These two meet at the bar and are flirty but never really act on that. Eden doesn't really believe in relationships after her marriage ended and Val can't get too close to anything because of his dangerous lifestyle. Eden has no idea who Val is at first or that she actually works at his family's cantina. Something very tragic happens one night while Eden is leaving work which changes her life in more than one way forever. Due to this event Eden is thrust into Val's world. Eden and Val are pretty explosive from the start but it is a bit of a rocky start. Eden has to navigate this new dangerous world she's found herself in. Val has to decide how much he is willing to risk for love. There is a lot of action in this book. The love scenes are hot as hell and you really "see" the chemistry between Val and Eden. This story is pretty angsty up until the last few chapters. Brian, Sarah & Alan do an amazing job of bringing the characters to life. I love the accent, it is sexy AF. Cora is a talented writer. Her characters have so much depth and power. #FlockReviewTeam # PInkFlamingoProductions #AudioObsessionReviewer

Good Story...Awful Accents

I really enjoyed the story line and the emotion that the narrators conveyed in Blurred Red Lines. However, the accents were AWFUL! Ugh!! The female MC is supposed to be from Houston. The only “accent” she had was to drop the -ing from every word; the word pushing became pushin’ and driving became drivin’. Not only was this totally irritating, but it certainly has NO resemblance to any Texas accent. I’ve lived in TX for 25 years and no one here speaks like this character! Also, the male main character is supposed to be a Mexican national living in Texas. His Spanish accent was done substantially better but his pronunciation of the word “you” always came out as “zhou”. The Spanish alphabet contains the letter “y” and Mexicans use the sound with ease, so this was a misinterpretation for sure. It sounded really phony, which distracted the listener from the story line. I also noticed mispronunciation of some Spanish words! We have so many native Spanish speakers with narration/voiceover talents in the US. It would have been more respectful to cast one of these folks as the male main character. Anyway, if you can stand the contrived and unrealistic accents, you may just enjoy the story.

The Carrera Cartel

Blurred Red Lines (The Carrera Cartel, Volume 1) is the first book in this steamy captive to lovers romance that is told in multi pov. A cartel war, soaked with suspense, romance and action. Eden's fiesty character was entertaining to listen to. The world building aspect is well established. A captivating listen

Brian Pallino, Sarah Puckett, Alan Carlson dual naration was perfection. Character's were given their own voice and emotions played out. Excellent naration.

What an exciting eventful story full of action, suspense and drama!

What an exciting opening for a new series! The story blew me away with all the twists and turns! The characters are harsh, hard and…well mostly cartel. Then there is the love or maybe revenge flowing through the veins of both Val and Eden. Very tricky! Living in a “who can you trust” world. I really enjoyed learning more of these characters and what makes them tick.

Eden is a strong woman who brings out the crazy only when needed. She is perfect for Val who is straddling a line right now. I loved their dynamic. From the beginning I could easily see the attraction between them. It only intensified as they became more intertwined. Secondary characters are great as well..even the bad ones.

I did listen to this on audio. I loved that the same person who voiced Brody also voices him in Brody’s book.(sorry I listened to that one first). The narration is superbly done.

Holy Mafia HOTNESS!

I've been a big fan of Cora Kenborn books and I loved this one when it came out. Now that it is in audio. WOAH. Like. WOAH. Brian Pallino is the perfect Val with his sexy accent and rich performance. Alan Carlson is a wonderful Brody, throwing in a different POV that is just brilliant. And as ALWAYS, Sarah Puckett is off the charts amazing. Love love love this audio and can't wait to binge the rest of the series.
