About this listen

Someone wants Elizabeth Bennet dead. It’s all Fitzwilliam Darcy’s fault.

Elizabeth Bennet wants the truth from Mr. Darcy. When she follows him from the ballroom to insist upon it, she becomes an unwilling witness to a scandalous scene. And for once, she cannot blame Mr. Darcy for disdaining his company, not even when he departs Netherfield in the middle of the ball.

When Darcy returns to London, he leaves both Miss Elizabeth Bennet and his growing infatuation for her behind--or so he believes. For soon, their paths cross again under the most painful of circumstances.

Elizabeth suddenly finds herself dependent upon Mr. Darcy. With the gradual unveiling of his character, she is surprised by a burgeoning affection for him. Will her heart survive their inevitable parting?

Thrust together out of necessity, Elizabeth and Darcy must discover the culprit responsible for their predicament before they are ruined...or worse.

Wow!

Loved every second of it! It was a little weird at first with the two narrators, but after the first chapter or so it wasn’t an issue. Strongly recommend!

Love this Elizabeth & Darcy

The plot of this story is a bit unbelievable BUT I didn’t care. I loved listening to the unfolding tale. I especially liked the added elements to our canon characters - Lizzy is fierce and obviously had been a tomboy, Jane is not just sweet & serene, Mr B is better, Darcy is so much more romantic, Charles Bingley is not the man Austen described and Sir William is astonishing!! I very much enjoyed the dual narrators although there was apparently some technical difficulty cutting the female reader into the audio without the difference in clarity being obvious, but it gets better as the story goes on. I did not mind it and it didn’t take away from my enjoyment of the story.

Unusual plot of an interesting story hindered by poor Narration of one IMHO.

Narration of one of the narrators was not nearly as good as expected and previously enjoyed. Throughout, her narration I had difficulty understanding what ahe said...it was barely understandable at times

Narrators rock this!

I first read the story & completely enjoyed it but then the audiobook came out and with both Harry Frost & Elizabeth Grace doing the narration took this story to a new level. He took all the male parts & she all the female roles and the story just flowed. After a little bit you are sucked into the story and you dont even focus on who is saying what. I truly hope that these two continue to partner up and do more of the JAFF/P&P audiobooks!

Excellent and worth the wait!

i read the book when it was first released and have re-read it at least twice. I was hoping it would get the audio treatment and was so excited to find it! The narration style and the narrators themselves are so well done. I have zero complaints. I am a big fan of the author, and the narrators are two of my favorites. Worth the $/ credit. You will definitely enjoy.

Re telling of Lizzie and Mr. Darcy.

This one has has Mr. Darcy rescuing and taking care Elizabeth. Keeping her hidden after finding her unconscious and not knowing who tried to kidnap her. They fall in love. It's sweet. Lizzie is nice and not much of her family is in this version.

Lovely story

This was an excellent mystery as well as a love story. This Mr. Bingley was very much in character and got his just desserts in the end. I would like to know how Caroline ended up. Darcy and Elizabeth were true to their characters and deserved their HEA. Harry Frost was excellent as always.

“With friends like these…”

“With friends like these, who needs enemies?” —Joey Adams

Fitzwilliam Darcy is a man of honour. One of whom others seek to take advantage. So-called friends. Even his closest one.

“Since the death of his father, Darcy somehow had been unable to find friends who had not eventually wanted something from him—a handout, support for a political endeavor, an investment, or his agreement to marry a female relation.”

When Darcy is almost compromised at Netherfield, then rescued by Elizabeth, he returns to London. Elizabeth is innocently caught up in the treachery of someone seeking revenge upon Darcy. Escaping her captors, she is eventually reunited with him as he seeks to protect her reputation, her life, and his honour. His friends may betray him, but his family and servants are loyal.

From the shock of betrayal in the beginning pages, to the happy ending for our dear couple, Melanie Rachel entertains with a great story, endearing character portrayals, and wonderful dialogue. I especially loved the good senses of humour given to all of them. Also endearing is the love story itself. Colonel Fitzwilliam’s brother, Henry is quite diverting and and so likeable! An excellent author, I recommend this and all Ms. Rachel’s works.

To this favourite Pride and Prejudice variation, we are provided with an outstanding dual narration by the incomparable Harry Frost and Elizabeth Grace, two most admired narrators. Well done!

I was enthralled

First, Harry Frost is one of my favorite narrators and he does an excellent job with this book. Elizabeth Grace, in my opinion, is not as talented as Frost, but she does a credible job with this book. At the first part, her voice is not strong and is hard to hear. It gets better later in the book.

The author is quite talented and I enjoyed her use of words, and her subtle sense of humor. The characters are all very strongly written and are believable. Her creation of Henry, older brother of Colonel Richard Fitzwilliam, is brilliant. He is a unique character and adds much interest to the story. She also has a twist on the characters of Charles and Caroline Bingley that is different from most versions and I really liked it. The main stars in this book are, of course, Darcy and Elizabeth. Their personalities shine as Darcy protects brave Elizabeth after her harrowing experience. Richard is his partner in taking care of Elizabeth.

I was totally engrossed in the plot and listened non-stop until I finished. It is now 5:00 am and I must now go to bed! Good thing I am retired.
