Awesome Ending!!
Reviewed: 11-05-24
"Let's Fly," These were the last words of a fairly long trilogy. There were ups and downs in this book, but I stand my by title: It had an awesome ending! I loved how Quentin, the banished, was the hero at the end and remade Fillory. The last pages of this book are some of the best endings I've read in a while. You know the feeling when you read something brilliantly put on paper? That's what I felt at the end of this book. It even inspired me to write this review, which I rarely do. If you have doubts about finishing this series, I hope this review will inspire you to read this last in the trilogy.

Made Me Cry
Reviewed: 09-23-24
This book started out kinda slow. I wasn't sure if liked the narrator at the beginning, but he grew on me. As this story progressed, I couldn't stop listening to it. Each character is well fleshed out and the setting is great! The six special children made you rethink how you react to kids (even adults) that don't quite fit in. This could be physical or mental. My favorite was Lucy, but the quiet, thoughtful Sal was the one who made me cry! I could have done without the bisexual component, but it did add a bittersweet awkward twist to the story.

I love love this story!! I teach 4th grade and have my students read this story every year. I love Nobody Owens. His struggles with the dead and trying to live a life of the living is fantastic. Mix in vampires, ghouls, witches, Celtic lore, and evil incarnate; it's' no wonder this won the Newberry Award! Also, to have the Danse Macabre start every chapter is exquisite!

Give it a chance
Reviewed: 08-21-24
I almost didn't buy this book, because the summary turned me off. A gaunt man? Just why!?! Why that description? A sadistic woman?!? Once again...why? Then I read where a critic compared this book to the Night Circus, which I love. I love the whimsy of that particular book, and gave this one a chance. I'm glad that I did. Time travel books can be a bit sketchy to me. My 'willing suspense of disbelief' can't handle it. This was ruffled a few times with this book, but everything was explained in such a logical way that I accepted it. I also liked the British accent of the narrator. Miranda Raison does a good job with this book and adds a bit to the whimsy of this book.

Awesome Continuation of Book 1
Reviewed: 06-08-23
When i finished the first book of this series, I immediately purchased the second one and finished the 28 hour book in just a few days. I couldn't put it down and sometimes even regretted not having the actual book to read along too. The world building in this book is not as strong as the first book, but it's mainly because there is one main setting in this book. The character building is just as great and I can't wait for the 3rd book to be be released. This coming of age series reminds me a bit of the Harry Potter series. The main character is young, has immense power, is smart and has a master to help move her along. The 'school' setting also reminds me of the HP series. To me this series has a lot more potential in the first 2 books than the first HP series and I can't wait for more to come.

Great Coming of Age book!
Reviewed: 06-08-23
I read/listen to tons of audible books but rarely leave reviews. This book has so few reviews and I don't understand why, unless it's because it just came out last summer. This is a great book. The world building AND character building is spot on. I love all the main plots and sub plots. This book is set up to be a multiple book series and I can't wait for it to continue. When I finished the first book I immediately found and bought the second book. Now, I have to wait on the third book. Bummer!! One thing you have to overlook is the female author's male voice. It's forced and is aggravating until you get used to it.

He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Loads better than The Martian!
Reviewed: 02-08-23
I rarely review audiobooks, even though I'm a voracious listener. This book is so good it has stayed with me. When I finished it a few weeks ago, the reviews were just under 150K. I want to see if it can make it to 175K. Science is an integral part of the story. Without it, the story would be flat and one dimensional. Friendship and caring for others more than self is also a huge portion of why this book is so great. I think that is what was missing from the Martian.

When Was the Last Time A Book Made You Smile?
Reviewed: 01-31-21
This boot was so nice to read. I don't remember buying this book and it became lost in my collection. I randomly picked this book and still almost didn't listen to it since it was such a short book. I'm so glad I did! I caught myself smiling A LOT while listening to this book. It is so inspiring and straight forward. Of course, all good fables are short and direct. This is longer than most of the famous Aesop's fables, but packs a strong punch. I will definitely reread this and share this great book to all of my friends and family.

Already on my 2nd read!
Reviewed: 11-26-20
I love this looonnnnggg book so much I'm already rereading it. Sanderson showed us how the master story was revealed in this book. In this book, I was quite impressed on the development of Navani in this book. She came forward as a prominent character who did as much (or even more than) Dalinar to carry the story forward. I honestly thought we would discover more of Jasnah, but she was almost a secondary character in this book.
Of course, the development of Shallan and Kalidin was the overarching theme of this book. At first, I was disappointed in the set back both characters experienced in this book. Then I realized it is realistic and smart of Sanderson to allow his main character more failings and 'human characteristics' of not being superhuman all the time. Many of my questions where answered in this book like more info on Wit, learning about the culture of Parshendi, more about sprens, etc.
I didn't know this series was going to be broken up into two sets of 5 books. I wonder what this means will happen in the next book. Will some of the main characters die? Will the next set of books have a different setting? Will another god die? Questions, questions!

“It happened fast. Thirty-two minutes for one world to die, another to be born". An epic and gripping tale of catastrophe and survival, The Passage is the story of Amy - abandoned by her mother at the age of six, pursued, and then imprisoned by the shadowy figures behind a government experiment of apocalyptic proportions. But Special Agent Brad Wolgast, the lawman sent to track her down, is disarmed by the curiously quiet girl and risks everything to save her. As the experiment goes nightmarishly wrong, Wolgast secures her escape - but he can’t stop society’s collapse.

Gripping Story!
Reviewed: 05-12-16
I listen to lots of books, but do not write many reviews. Since I'm writing a review on this story, it should tell the reader how interesting this story was. I know many others have told about the plot of this story, so I'm going to tell about how this story makes you feel. You really feel for these characters, especially the chore characters. You want them to find a way to survive, beat the odds, and get the world back to rights. You also feel super creepy about going out during the nighttime by yourself while reading/listening to this novel!
Now, when I read this 36 hour book, I didn't know it was a trilogy. I guess I got this book as a daily deal recently because now I know the third book will be released 5/24/16. That is the day I get my credit, so I guess I'll be reading the rest of the books soon. I would have hated to read this book and not have the second one to read because the ending is abrupt and definitely a cliffhanger!
