The number one New York Times best-selling story about American Olympic triumph in Nazi Germany, the inspiration for the PBS documentary The Boys of '36, broadcast to coincide with the 2016 Summer Olympics and the 80th anniversary of the boys' gold medal race. Out of the depths of the Depression comes an irresistible story about beating the odds and finding hope in the most desperate of times - the improbable, intimate account of how nine working-class boys from the American West showed the world at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin what true grit really meant.

I am a runner, but have yet to try an ultra distance yet. I love how it shows Corey as a normal person who can run one of the toughest races in the world. I love the history of the Death Valley area and the Badwater Race are given, and how it relates to Corey. Most of all i love the inspiration am guidance it gives not only about running, but about life!

Great father, kinda wanted more inspirational lessons
Reviewed: 01-06-20
I absolutely love the relationship he has with his daughter!! I think family is the most important thing these days! I am not a climber myself, but i find the sport fascinating! So learning a bit more about the sport and terms was interesting! With some of the experience they have I did expect some analogies to life lessons or for it to turn into an inspirational self help book. It just stuck with the stories and memoirs of their excursions. It was interesting, but I guess I was hoping for more inspiration!
