Story
For most of the last hundred years, Biloxi was known for its beaches, resorts, and seafood industry. But it had a darker side. It was also notorious for corruption and vice, everything from gambling, prostitution, bootleg liquor, and drugs to contract killings. The vice was controlled by small cabal of mobsters, many of them rumored to be members of the Dixie Mafia.

Not one of his best! I was interested because I lived there at the time of the story, but I found it tedious. Disappointed in Grisham.

Story
Magic is dangerous. I should know. It got me a 30-year sentence scrubbing toilets for a scumbag wizard. My only hope is the Unleashing, a ceremony that unlocks the dormant powers of magical descendants when we turn 18. Since my mom was a lowly psychic, I don’t expect to be blessed with much more than the ability to forecast the weather. But when the sorcerers unlock my magic, all hell breaks loose.

This had too much sex for me. I couldn’t finish reading this book because of it. Not much story.

Story
I thought I had it bad - living in my dead Dad’s old hunting blind in the woods, barely staying alive on apples and ramen...that was before the storm hit and destroyed the only form of shelter I had left. Enter, Jared. The hottest - and most unavailable - guy at school. Except he wasn’t Jared when he pulled me out of the mud. He wasn’t even human. As if that wasn’t unsettling enough, when he brought me back to his cabin, I found he wasn’t alone. Another guy, one I’d only ever heard about in whispers beneath the bleachers, was there too.

Shifted view of life
Reviewed: 05-31-20
This is a delightful new series which I found on audible. I have tried several and discarded them, but this one caught my attention immediately. One becomes taken by Allie and her strong determination to survive on her own after her father’s death until a mudslide buries her hopes. It is then that she meets Jarrod who offers a refuge and protection against her abusive ex-boyfriend. However, he is much more than he seems and her future shifts.

After spending my entire life avoiding the creatures that murdered my parents, one stupid mistake binds me to them for four years. My penance? Become a human shadow at the infamous Evermore Academy, finishing school for the Seelie and Unseelie fae courts. All I want is to keep a low profile, but on day one, I make an enemy of the most powerful fae in the academy. The Winter Prince is arrogant, cruel, and apparently also my fae keeper. Meaning, I’m in for months of torture.

Roller coaster emotions
Reviewed: 05-21-20
A roller coaster emotionally with on again/off again feelings, the story becomes confusing. Between Fae and human worlds, hierarchy, and ways of life, the characters keep changing their feelings and reactions to one another which keeps the reader on edge, not sure of how to feel about what is, or perhaps isn’t , going to happen. Did the character die or just transform? Etc.

Story
For years, computer scientists have been working on a single, massive project. It was said to be impossible. Humanity itself may hang in the balance, and a single corporation controls its fate Artificial intelligence is everywhere - in the cars we drive, in the appliances in our homes, and in the computers we use for work and pleasure. But this "intelligence" is lacking in one simple, yet major, way. It is not human.

Cool!

This is a well written, interesting thriller which take s place primarily under the ice in Antarctica and is especially relevant at this time of debate over the use of artificial intelligence. It features the same group of friends from other books by the author who are uniquely qualified for working together as a team to investigate various situations, in this case, for a man known only as Mr. E. who wants information about an investment of his in Antarctica.
