Story
In the darkness of Imperium Nihilus, across half a million worlds cut off from the dim light of Holy Terra, a beacon is lit. The Red Angel returns to an unsteady galaxy and his scattered sons heed the call to slaughter. Aboard the World Eaters’ flagship, Kossolax the Foresworn, self-appointed lord regent of the XII, fights to keep the old dreams of the Legion alive, but finds the return of his hated father both an opportunity and a threat to the warriors’ fragile unity.

A story truly disconnected from a title
Reviewed: 03-06-23
I was hoping to get a deeper perspective on what it means to be a thrall to the God of martial prowess, rage, and bloodshed and I got a lot of screaming and anarchy, which makes sense, but nothing else.. which doesn't. khornes daemons are supposedly granted more sentience the higher they ascend, and I figured I'd get some dialogue here that humanized khornes servants, and the story repeatedly had moments where that was possible and just.. didn't, instead writing instead about just how angry someone is. Some characters are more humanized than others, but I was really hoping for the most sentient fleshing out of khornate ethics in WORD and action in the daemon primarch who barely makes an appearance. Trying to avoid spoilers, but I wouldn't recommend this to a friend.

Story
Hayek gives the main arguments for the free-market case and presents his manifesto on the "errors of socialism." Hayek argues that socialism has, from its origins, been mistaken on factual, and even on logical, grounds and that its repeated failures in the many different practical applications of socialist ideas that this century has witnessed were the direct outcome of these errors. He labels as the "fatal conceit" the idea that "man is able to shape the world around him according to his wishes."

Story
In Wealth, Poverty, and Politics, Thomas Sowell, one of the foremost conservative public intellectuals in the country, argues that political and ideological struggles have led to dangerous confusion about income inequality in America. Pundits and politically motivated economists trumpet ambiguous statistics and sensational theories while ignoring the true determinant of income inequality: the production of wealth.

Story
Winner of the Pulitzer Prize in 1974 and the culmination of a life's work, The Denial of Death is Ernest Becker's brilliant and impassioned answer to the "why" of human existence. In bold contrast to the predominant Freudian school of thought, Becker tackles the problem of the vital lie: man's refusal to acknowledge his own mortality. In doing so, he sheds new light on the nature of humanity and issues a call to life and its living that still resonates more than 30 years after its writing.

An incredible framework for understanding the mechanisms by which man on his earthly journey produces evil as a by product of his best intentions.
Expect no miracle cure or new age religion to turn back the clock on the psyche after finishing this book. This book is haunting.

A Conflict of Visions
- Ideological Origins of Political Struggles
- By: Thomas Sowell

Story
In this book, which the author calls a "culmination of 30 years of work in the history of ideas", Sowell attempts to explain the ideological difference between liberals and conservatives as a disagreement over the moral potential inherent in nature. Those who see that potential as limited prefer to constrain governmental authority, he argues. They feel that reform is difficult and often dangerous, and put their faith in family, custom, law, and traditional institutions.
