Story
Alan Dershowitz has spent years advocating for his "most challenging client" - the state of Israel - both publicly and in private meetings with high-level international figures, including every US president and Israeli leader of the past 40 years. Replete with personal insights and unreported details, Defending Israel offers a comprehensive history of modern Israel from the perspective of one of the country's most important supporters. Listeners are given a rare front-row seat to the high-profile controversies and debates that Dershowitz was involved in over the years.

Extremely interesting story of an ultra-intelligent defender of Israel. He is sometimes critical, but always consistent. I wish he had narrated the whole thing himself though.

Story
It’s been 120 years since the 50 or so worldships containing the few million survivors of the human species set off after the planet Earth was destroyed by a meteor. On the Worldship Humility, Sam, a 30-year-old Airlock Operative, is bored. Living in space should be exciting and full of adventure, except it isn’t, and he fills his time hacking 3-D movie posters and holographic adverts outside the stores in the retail zone. Petty thief Yasmine Emile Dufont is also from the WS Humility, but she is not bored....

Great job by the narrator with all the different voices. Not deep science fiction, just an entertaining humorous romp!

Story
Chipper, patient, and courteous, Canada has pursued an improbable destiny as a splendid nation of relatively good and ably self-governing people, but most would agree we have not realized our true potential. Canada's main chance, writes Black, is now before it...and it is not in the usual realms of military or economic dominance. With the rest of the West engaged in a sterile left-right tug of war, Canada has the opportunity to lead the world to its next stage of development in the arts of government.

Well written, but horribly narrated
Reviewed: 08-14-19
It's infuriating that the narrator had obviously not gone to school in Canada and heard various Canadian names pronounced, and then hadn't even bothered to take 2 minutes to Google them before plowing forward. He repeatedly hit the silent 's' in "Lévesque", pronounced "Métis" phonetically as if it was an English word spelled "Mettis", same phonetic treatment of "St. Laurent", and emphasized the wrong syllable in "Saskatchewan". This was an interesting essay, overshadowed by this horrible narration.

I found the author's continual SJW posturing quite off-putting, but the basic premise of SSRI drugs not being the right treatment for mild depression, and the huge benefits of exercise/nature/social connection instead quite interesting.

Story
White is Bret Easton Ellis's first work of nonfiction. Already the bad boy of American literature, from Less Than Zero to American Psycho, Ellis has also earned the wrath of right-thinking people everywhere with his provocations on social media, and here he escalates. Eschewing convention, he embraces views that will make many in literary and media communities cringe, as he takes aim at anti-Trump fixation, coastal elites, corporate censorship, Hollywood, identity politics, Generation Wuss, "woke" cultural watchdogs, and more.

It starts slowly, with a recounting of the author's childhood which is rather unexciting. I considered bailing, but I'm sure glad I didn't as subsequent chapters are great! Fantastic exposition of the groupthink and Trump Derangement Syndrome that has gripped millions of people in the last three years.

For two thousand years, cadavers have been involved in science's boldest strides and weirdest undertakings. They've tested France's first guillotines, ridden the NASA Space Shuttle, been crucified in a Parisian laboratory to test the authenticity of the Shroud of Turin, and helped solve the mystery of TWA Flight 800. For every new surgical procedure, from heart transplants to gender reassignment surgery, cadavers have been there alongside surgeons, making history in their quiet way.

In his own words, the heavyweight champion of the world pulls no punches as he chronicles the battles he faced in and out of the ring in this fascinating memoir edited by Nobel Prize-winning novelist, Toni Morrison. Growing up in the South, surrounded by racial bigotry and discrimination, Ali fought not just for a living, but also for respect and rewards far more precious than money or glory. He was named Sportsman of the Century by Sports Illustrated and the BBC.
