Story
Never fall for your best friend. That’s the rule. The code. Claire Harlow always follows rules—except this one. However, when an attack leaves both of their worlds shaken, she decides to walk away from what could have been and hide within her own shadows. Kingston Montgomery is the man who saves the day. At least that’s what he’s always told himself—until one day he was too late. Now he’s trying to find his purpose while also ignoring the heat between him and Claire.

A snowed in, one night stand romance.
Reviewed: 12-07-24
I listened to the audiobook version of this book, and OMG, Teddy Hamilton and Emma Wilder were the perfect Kingston and Claire. The emotions, the rawness, the absolute pain you could not only hear but feel in their voices was magnificent, and then there's the heat, the flirtiness, and the seductive lilt that comes across with such depth you would think that it was the Teddy and Emma story and not Kingston and Claire's. This is why they were perfect for this story's narration: you need to feel all of the feelings with this one, and they did it to perfection.
We start with a group of Montgomery cousins and friends deciding to go away for the weekend, but it doesn't work out as planned, thanks to a larger-than-predictable snowstorm. But the time away gives Kingston and Claire some time to clear the air between them on what has been going on recently, and it leaves plenty of time for some "alone time," if you know what I mean. 😉 Anyway, their ONS isn't supposed to lead to anything, but we all know how that goes, especially when longtime crushes are involved.
I enjoyed this story and look forward to reading more of the Second Generation of Montgomery as this series continues. I recommend this book to readers who enjoy STEAMY Contemporary Romances, ONS to More Romances, Friends-to-Lovers Romances, He Falls First Romances, Snowed In Romances, Trauma Bonding Romances, Unrequited Crush Romances, WHO HURT YOU Romances, or Large Family Romances.
Each of Carrie Ann Ryan's books is written as a standalone in an interconnected series. While this story is focused on Kingston and Claire, I personally think you will be more emotionally attached to both the H and h if you have read His Second Chance, which introduces Claire and her best friend, Phoebe. That being said, you can read this as a standalone if you choose.

Though she is the oldest daughter, Princess Faraine lives in the background, shunned from court and kept out of sight. When the handsome and enigmatic Shadow King comes seeking a bride, Faraine is not surprised that her sister is his choice. When King Vor meets the lively Princess Ilsevel, he quickly agrees to a marriage arrangement. So why can’t he get the haunting eyes of her older sister out of his head?

I cannot believe I haven't read any of Sylvia Mercedes's books before this one. You better believe I will complete this series and look into some of her other work.
King Vor and Princess Faraine's story grabbed me right from the start. I couldn't get enough of the Troldefolk and Humans coming together to arrange a marriage, hoping to strengthen both armies to battle against the evil forces attacking them. The battles we witness on the page and the ones we hear about cause a chain of reactions that can severely damage the arrangement and lives. It will leave you on the edge of your seat, holding your breath in anticipation of what is to come next.
This story reminded me of Lord of the Rings, with Middle Earth. King Vor and his people live in a Subturain environment lit by the light of gemstones. It is a similar gemstone to the one Faraine wears. Is that a coincidence, or did the Gods know what they were doing when handing out their God Gifts?
Emily Lawrence and Tim Campbell brought this story to life and did a fantastic job with it.
I recommend this book to readers who enjoy Romantasy Reads, Paranormal Romances, Arranged Marriage Romances, Royalty Romances, Interspecies Romances, or Slow-Burn Romances.

Story
The first time I got married, I watched the man I love walk away from me. The second time around, I’m the one signing the dotted line first—this one a man who I realized I never loved. Once burned, twice broken, I’m done looking for love. Only my first ex-husband seems to be everywhere I turn—at my work, with my friends, and eventually…in my bed. I didn’t mean for it to happen. Twice. But I know if I don’t protect my heart, there will be nothing left of me if he walks away again without telling me why he did so in the first place.

This has been a fun trilogy. I enjoyed getting to know Greer's brothers (Greer's story can be found in Best Friend Temptation) and their kooky parents. In this final installment of the First Time Series, which follows the Cassidy brothers, we have August Cassidy and Piper Cassidy Renee, who were married years ago but sadly ended in divorce. The question has always been why their marriage ended. No one knew, including Piper. August finally lets the truth of the demise of their marriage come out, as well as the fact that he never stopped loving her even though he's been acting as if he hates her since they reconnected when he moved to Denver, where she is currently living.
Piper is what others believe to be a well-put-together businesswoman who is taking on the world. Her business is thriving, and she is a boss for whom employees enjoy working. But there is more to her than meets the eye, and once things start to unravel, my heart truly breaks for her. One thing that can be said about this savvy business woman, when she loves she loves deep and it doesn't matter if your a billionaire or a High School Teacher, she loves the person not the wallet.
Carrie Ann Ryan takes readers on a journey as we watch two people come together again after so much pain and heartache and get what they both need: one another. This story will pull at your heartstrings one minute, have you laughing another, and then want to throw your Kindle across the room a few minutes later. I loved the ride and didn't want it to end.
I listened to the audiobook version, and the narrators, Gregory Salinas and Jo Raylan did a fabulous job bringing August and Piper's story to life. If you listen to audiobooks, I highly recommend this one.
I recommend this book to readers who enjoy STEAMY Contemporary Romances, New Adult Romances, second-chance-at-first-love Romances, Family Saga Romances, or Billionaire Romances.

Story
The moment I found out my ex-wife was cheating with my former best friend I knew I’d hit rock bottom, and it was time for a change. With the freshly signed divorce papers in hand, I want nothing to do with my old life as I start my new one with my brothers and our new distillery and bar on the Wilder Retreat. Only when I see my former best friend’s ex, Ava, in need of a job, I can’t say no. Not when she has their eight-year-old daughter in tow and nowhere to go.

Once friends. Twice enemies. Forever the passion.
Reviewed: 09-20-24
After the epilogue in A WILDER WEDDING, I couldn't wait to get my hands on FOREVER FOR US. In that story, Wyatt is attacked in his bar after hours, and a pouch of money is stolen; this book picks up right from that point. This book can be read as a standalone, as with all of the books in this series, but they are interconnected since they revolve around a family. You can jump in at any point, but it will enhance your reading experience to have prior knowledge of each of the brothers and cousins as their stories occur.
Wyatt and Ava have a strange relationship; Wyatt was best friends with Ava's ex, and Ava was friends with Wyatt's ex when they were married. The four of them would vacation together and everything until one day when Wyatt came home to find his wife in bed with his best friend; needless to say, both marriages were heading to divorce court from that moment. The tragedy in it all was not the fact that their spouses cheated on them, but Ava's ex took EVERYTHING from her other than their daughter, and she is working at a job she hates to make ends meet. That is until Wyatt offers her a job as Assistant Manager at The Wilder Distillery and Bar.
Ava and Wyatt's story will pull at your heartstrings, especially the part where Ava's daughter Faith is affected. I loved this little girl and wanted to give her all the hugs she deserved. Suppose you have ever had the fortune to be a bonus parent. In that case, you know how precarious your relationship can be initially, but hold on because it can be the best thing ever if you show them that you aren't going anywhere and will love them wholeheartedly...yes, I speak from experience. I was so happy to see how invested Wyatt was with Faith even before he realized he wanted a relationship with Ava.
I listened to the audiobook, and Jason Clarke and Rose Dioro did a fantastic job bringing this story to life.
I recommend this book to readers who enjoy STEAMY Contemporary Romances, Romantic Suspense, Workplace Romances, Boss/Employee Romances, Single Mom Romances, or enemies-to-lovers Romances.

Reviewed: 08-19-24
I originally read this back in June 2021, when The Wicked Aftermath was first released, and I fell hard for Benson "Tank" Wicked. To this day, if anyone asks me who my #1 book boyfriend is, I always say it's Tank Wicked from The Wicked Aftermath. The Wicked Aftermath AUDIO has been rereleased with a new male narrator. I had to dive in once I heard Aiden Snow narrate it. That man could read me the phone book, and I would sit there and listen to the whole thing. Jennifer Mack did a phenomenal job with bringing Leah to life. You could feel all of the pain she had endured, and the heartache she had gone through at her young age will have you rooting for her right from the start. Aiden Snow, in my opinion, is the perfect choice to bring Tank to life. He had me crying one second and laughing the next, which was exactly what I needed at that time. If you have the opportunity to listen to this book, I highly recommend you do, but if you don't, I recommend you purchase whatever format you enjoy reading; you won't be disappointed.
(my original review 6/2021)
I don't know how Melissa Foster does it, but she creates the absolute best couples ever! Tank and Leah's story is one that will grip you with so many emotions. I cried for a good majority of the book, but in between, Juni and Rosie had me cracking up. This story is about the loss of a loved one, the process of grieving and trying to move forward, finding love, and discovering a family you didn't expect. I completed this read in a day, and even though I had to put it down a couple of times to compose myself, I couldn't help but go right back to it because it was sooooo good!
This story will gut you, but I promise it will put you together again in the best possible way before it's over. My heart swelled with emotions throughout this story; it was so heartbreakingly beautiful you could not help but fall in love with each and every one in this book. From Benson, aka Tank, to Leah, to the precious little girls who had me craving pincakes for breakfast. I don't know how Ms. Foster will top this one, and I know I have said that before, but man, Tank will be hard to knock out of the top book-boyfriend spot.
I highly recommend this book to everyone. Whether you enjoy Contemporary Romances or MC Romances or are just looking for a good Steamy read, you won't want to miss it.

The rules were simple. Protect the woman I love. And try to stop loving her along the way. Kane Montgomery Carr and Phoebe Dixon’s romance went from a fiery temptation to a fizzled out heartbreak. Only Kane has no idea why. All he knows is that he has to keep her safe when a stalker sets Phoebe in their sights. Yet as the two of them are forced once again into each other’s lives, the truth behind their breakup surfaces and they are forced to face the facts: the feelings and heat they buried aren’t quite as gone as they’d like.

The meet-cute with Phoebe and Kane was too funny, and OMG, Carrie Ann Ryan has my eyes popping out with the whopper of a secret that she drops in chapter…nope, I'm not going to tell you; you have to read the book to find out.

<3 Sinclair & Lavender
Reviewed: 07-13-24
Summer in Kentbury had me wishing I was by a lake enjoying the scenery and small-town atmosphere. Sinclair and Lavender were great together, even when they started off on the wrong foot.
Lavender needed to leave New York City for a while to escape her ex and everything he did to jeopardize her future, so she headed to her family's lake house in Kentbury, Vermont. The only problem was that nothing was the same as she remembered when she arrived.
Sinclair arrives in Vermont to help his siblings with a camp they are putting together, but he isn't happy about it. He's a busy man and doesn't take time out for anything thing...that is, until he meets Lavender.
Lavender and Sinclair do not hit it off when they meet; their meet-cute is more of a stranger to enemies beginning than a happy one, but that does change over time. I enjoyed the banter over text messages that Lavender and Sinclair had going on for a while; it shed light on why Sinclair was the way he was.
I had the opportunity to listen to the audiobook version of this book, and I am so glad that I did because Grace Grant and Connor Crais did a fabulous job of bringing Lavender and Sinclair to life.

Full of Surprises!
Reviewed: 07-01-24
The Cassidy Brothers are full of SURPRISES! In this story, we have Luca Cassidy, the youngest Cassidy sibling, and Addison Lily, Devney and Paisley's Best Friend, as well as the Best Friend of Luca.
We start with a birthday celebration that leads to a drunken night of fun between Luca and Addison. Honestly, after seeing these two together in the last book, I am surprised they hadn't hooked up before now. Anyway, their shenanigans have the ultimate consequence: a positive pregnancy test. But the fun doesn't stop there. If you read the first book in the series, GOOD TIME BOYFRIEND, you'll know all about Addison's hostile work environment; when she and her ex are up for the same promotion, she lets it slip that she's engaged, and when her boss overhears her he is excited to meet her Finacé at their upcoming company retreat. See what I mean...let the fun begin!
I love Friends to Lovers Romance, especially when the two's chemistry is undeniable. Luca and Addison's chemistry was great, and I enjoyed watching them evolve their friendship into something more. Carrie Ann Ryan is building an extension of the Montgomery Family Tree with Greer Cassidy in BEST FRIEND TEMPTATION and her brothers in this FIRST TIME SERIES, if you love the Montgomery's get to know this new branch of the family.
Jason Clarke and Callie Dalton narrate LAST MINUTE FIANCE. Jason Clarke is one of my favorite Male narrators, and Callie is fairly new to me as I have only listened to her narration once before. These two narrators did a phenomenal job of bringing Luca and Addison's story to life.

LOVE IN KENTBURY is the story of Louanne and Henrik's second chance at love. I wasn't sure we would get this story because Louanne wasn't the nicest of people in the previous story, and Henrik has been a bit of a grump on occasion, but time and circumstances can change a person.
I will admit to not being a fan of Lou's at the beginning because of her previous actions, but once I got to know her better, I liked her a lot. Plus, the chemistry between Lou and Henrik was great.
I listened to the audiobook version, and Mackenzie Cartwright and Grayson Owens did a fantastic job of bringing Louanne and Henrik's story to life.
