Wrong choice for narrator
Reviewed: 08-07-24
It's not that He isn't a good narrator but the main character is a Woman. I'm through chapter 3 and there has been many times that I was thinking that the main was a gay man. Then I'd correct my thinking. But I'm about to just roll with it.
Jim Dale would be a successful narrator for a female main. IDK of any other male narrator that would have the range.

I loved the fact that the main character was real and many built around her. So much girl power in an age that laughed at the possibility.

Suspenseful?
Reviewed: 08-28-23
I'm rating a 4 to give the author the benefit of the doubt. I'm on chapter 12 and turning it off. I must be too sensitive to the family dynamics to want to relive this type of scenario, on purpose.
The title details were very deceiving- not the typical suspenseful story.

This is not too far away from current day reality. I loved the positive viewpoint while dealing with the negative challenges.
The narrator was wonderful. I may be biased... I'd listen to him reading the yellow pages 💛

Story
In the more than five tumultuous, paradigm-shifting years of Donald Trump’s presidency and beyond, his near-constant lying has become a fixture of political life. It is inextricably linked with how his party behaves, how the Democrats respond to it, and how he remains relevant, even after a decisive loss in 2020. Jonathan Lemire brings his connections, profile, and reportorial instincts to bear in his first book that explores how this phenomenon shapes our politics. The Big Lie is the first audiobook to examine this unprecedented and tenuous moment in our nation’s politics.

I fell "in deep respect" for JL while watching MJ. I cheered when he took over W2E and started recording each day so I wouldn't miss anything, including the Boston sports updates.
I pre-ordered this book as soon as it was announced and I've finished it in 2 days. This is a great account of the last torturous years as we experienced the DJT deception (s). Thank you JL for your hard work, endless dry humor, and passion for ethics in life.
I highly (understatement) recommend this book to all.

Waaaaay Too Much Sex
Reviewed: 05-11-22
I doubted a previous review that mentioned too much Sex, but she was spot on! Repetitive acts, long bouts of gasping and wonderment, and does always have to break skin? I started fast forwarding through them because they just don't add anything to the story. The last one that I ff'd through was over 15 minutes!
I'm on chapter 42 and they finally can just refer to a good time had by all last night. yay!

Chosen from birth to usher in a new era, Poppy’s life has never been her own. The life of the Maiden is solitary. Never to be touched. Never to be looked upon. Never to be spoken to. Never to experience pleasure. Waiting for the day of her Ascension, she would rather be with the guards, fighting back the evil that took her family, than preparing to be found worthy by the gods. But the choice has never been hers.

Everything Poppy has ever believed in is a lie, including the man she was falling in love with. Thrust among those who see her as a symbol of a monstrous kingdom, she barely knows who she is without the veil of the Maiden. But what she does know is that nothing is as dangerous to her as him. The Dark One. The Prince of Atlantia. He wants her to fight him, and that’s one order she’s more than happy to obey. He may have taken her, but he will never have her.

I don't use that word lightly. I laughed, cried, cheered, and thoroughly enjoyed their bonding relationships. I know that I'll read the next two before starting the 1st one all over again. Fantasy, romance, action, plot & storyline, descriptive feelings & settings. Beautifully written. Not for teens!!!! 🙂
