Story
After the explosive events surrounding MPF6's destruction on Karkin Four, Wic and his team of daredevil operators join forces with the rebel force known as the Blood Guard. While the Phantoms desire to help relocate human refugees to safer worlds, they're forced to confront a more pressing objective: cut off the head of the beast and keep the Androchidan Empire from enslaving another world. Wic is immediately flung into the heat of battle, driven by retaliation, a need for justice, and the need to send a message to all other deviant species who'd wish to take advantage of the innocent.

Pretty good story. Little bit flat narration.

The story is ok. I’m biased by presentation somewhat so I’ll have to demote it a little. Really enjoyed the previous audiobooks but after 18 chapters of this one still unable to switch gears to new performer. Good but just too far from former narrater to track the style change.

Listened to most of it twice
Reviewed: 01-04-22
This was a very challenging book to get through. The lack of excitement from Ray Porter tried to put me to sleep in many chapters, but to be fair, I reset the chapters and listened again (trying to give Ray a solid chance). The voices used for the two storylines and main characters are so close it's difficult to tell them apart. I had to listen closely for the names of the characters to know when we switched between the two. The story deviates from the previous books, and, combined with the big voice performance difference between award winning R.C. Bray and "pretty ok" Ray Porter, it was challenging to stay alert and finish the story.
Too many sighs and rapid weird inhales made Ray sound tired and unmotivated. Sorry Ray :(
Hoping both the story line and the vocal performance will be better in the next book I'm about to buy...on faith.
