This was a lovely story! I loved the character growth and storyline so for that alone 5 stars! I will say that this is one of those love stories with no real drama or climax so if you’re looking for some angst, this isn’t it.
I am a HUGE fan of romances that change POVs so that was awesome and the narrator did a good job differentiating between the two main characters but past that, all other males and females sound exactly alike so that made things a liiiittle confusing but you mostly hear from the two main leads anyway so it wasn’t so distracting that I couldn’t get past it. Overall, LOVED this and would absolutely find myself listening again. Plus the sex scenes were steamy. I never say this but…I could’ve used a few more! 😅

I was SO excited to see this series, particularly from Roslyn Sinclair. Because you only get a 5 minute preview and I didn’t recognize the first story, it didn’t give me much on the upcoming performance but once purchased, I realized the narrator had ONE voice for all the characters. It not only made the book hard to listen to but it also didn’t really put me in the mind of the original much. I imagine it may not be sensible to get the original narrators but I guess I just didn’t expect this to feel so different than the originals. I figured they’d get someone who was versatile enough to do it all, as close to original as possible. Almost like the narrator didn’t listen to the other stories to get an idea of the characters already established. I could only endure two stories before giving up. :(

Story
When Rachel accepts that she isn't going to fall in love the way others appear to, she decides she is at least going to have a fulfilling career. While her friends spend an afternoon complaining about the lack of help they receive from their husbands, one of them announces she needs her own wife to help her get her tasks done. This sparks an idea for Rachel to create an app specifically designed to help working women, the way wives help their spouses behind the scenes.

I’d been waiting a long time for this to arrive on audio and it was…kinda….worth the wait? I mean, I’m glad I read it, certainly not a wasted credit! It was a lovely book, an interesting concept but I will say it was a bit odd. A few others have mentioned this but the main character’s friends are a bit awful and unsupportive (maybe that’s Middle Aged straight female friendships?) throughout. The book really only uses the app as a means to introduce the two characters, it’s not a very prominent plot point, and for a while you’re genuinely unsure if she’s really even into the love interest at all. It’s a slow burn until it’s NOT. Then once they’re together, they experience moments of insecurity that don’t quite feel earned or warranted that lead to large declarations of love which are sweet but….it just felt like I didn’t need the last hour or so of the book.
Narrator was a bit monotone (you get used to it) and a lot of the characters sounded similar except for Justine and so that made the listen a challenge in some spots. Overall, a very sweet story, I don’t want to deter anyone from reading it, it’s just very different from what I’m used to in my romance novels so I think having the context is helpful walking in! (I know it did for me, having seen another review that was critical but complimentary!)

Nothing Special Unfortunately
Reviewed: 06-10-23
I honestly hate doing this but I feel like I should warn people before they spend a full credit on this book! Like some of the other reviewers said, I also really wanted to like this book! Initially, I really appreciated that Leah had great communication and they were both really upfront with each other about what they were getting into. But the fake dating portion ended pretty quickly early on in the book (which was what drew me in) and it just left us with one generally okay character and one kind of annoying character who is just harboring a lot of trauma that keeps them from being in a relationship. What was supposed to be a plot twist wasn’t really that interesting, and what was supposed to be a huge catalyst for them acknowledging their feelings just felt overdramatic.
Overall, this book was nothing special. I gave a low score on performance too because I found it a little confusing that even Grace (who has an American accent) would think things from her perspective in an English accent. It made it really hard to tell if Grace was thinking or if Leah was speaking because apart from different characters talking aloud, the rest of the book was read with an English accent. Maybe that’s standard but I just wasn’t used to it and it had me confused.
I would say that this book is good for anyone who just wants a really simple story. But if you’re looking for something that’s going to grip you, enchant you, or totally get you lost in a storyline, this ain’t it. :(

This story was just as beautiful as the first! Had hints of drama here and there but ultimately was a sweet look into snippets of their lives! If you’re looking for a full, complete, angst-filled story, this isn’t it! But it is a sweet little sequel and I wish more authors would do this!

MY NEW FAVORITE BOOK
Reviewed: 10-26-22
I LOVED THIS BOOK. Highly recommended to anyone who loves a substantive, sexy, sweet wlw novel! If you’re worried that it’s going to feel like a woman trying to tame a wild college kid, don’t. The characters were adults, clearly written by an adult and I just loved that there wasn’t a bunch of teen nonsense. I literally couldn’t stop smiling and while trying to avoid any spoilers, this is one book that I was PRAYING would have an epilogue and it did and god was it perfect! I have not a single complaint about this book. In fact, I’ve never wanted to switch POVS more now in every book I read. The two narrators were outstanding and really brought this to life.

Delilah Green swore she would never go back to Bright Falls—nothing is there for her but memories of a lonely childhood where she was little more than a burden to her cold and distant stepfamily. Her life is in New York, with her photography career finally gaining steam and her bed never empty. Sure, it’s a different woman every night, but that’s just fine with her.

Sigh. Not for me.

Overall, great performance and interesting synopsis until you get into it and realize there’s just what feels like a lot of whining from Delilah and a good chunk of the book is spent addressing family issues/drama from both Delilah and the love interest (who’s name I can’t even remember). Maybe because of where I’m at in my life, I just kept screaming, WHY DONT YOU JUST COMMUNICATE HOW YOURE FEELING INSTEAD OF MAKING ALL THESE ASSUMPTIONS. Haha I think personally I love a romance where 90% of the book is them interacting. This felt like 60-75% of the two love interests and the rest was spent on other people I didn’t care much about at all which left me feeling like these two never really had much chance to connect to even get to the happy ending. BUT if you prefer a lot more happening in the background, then this could be a great fit for you!

Story
Caroline Parker knows three things to be true. First, she is going to be Boston's most sought-after divorce attorney by 35. Second, given how terrible her romantic track record is, falling in love isn't in the cards for her. And third, Christmas only brings her bad luck - being broken up with not once, not twice, but three times during the holidays is proof enough of that. When she runs into Hannah Dalton on Christmas Eve, she has no reason to believe her luck will change. After all, though Hannah is probably the most gorgeous woman she's ever seen, she's also straight.

Okay so I’m always SUPER hesitant to purchase books and comb through reviews to see how others enjoyed it first. One review here really stuck with me and that’s what made me give it a try. That reviewer was ABSOLUTELY spot on! This has become my new favorite book! The story is believable, the two main characters have SUCH great chemistry, the kid isn’t annoying at all and I found myself smiling and laughing throughout.
I loved this more than I could’ve ever expected and I highly recommend it!
