Story
At the age of 29, Hannah Martin still has no idea what she wants to do with her life. She has lived in six different cities and held countless meaningless jobs since graduating college. On the heels of leaving yet another city, Hannah moves back to her hometown of Los Angeles and takes up residence in her best friend Gabby’s guestroom. Shortly after getting back to town, Hannah goes out to a bar one night with Gabby and meets up with her high school boyfriend, Ethan. Just after midnight, Gabby asks Hannah if she’s ready to go. A moment later, Ethan offers to give her a ride.

Great Premise
Reviewed: 09-04-23
I really loved the premise and TJR Can truly do no wrong. However I listened to it on audio and it was very hard to keep the two storylines separate because they were so similar in a lot of ways. I want to read it again as a physical copy where I can take notes on each timeline and pay closer attention. That being said, I did not like it as much as I think I could have which is why I want to truly give it another chance. The chapters didn’t have any type of header to announce which timeline you were on so when you paused and went back to it the next day it was hard to remember where you were at. I think the story is absolutely beautiful and like I said, I’m excited to do a reread and pay closer attention.

Interesting History

The performance of all three women is great! The history and how the author wove all three time periods together was intriguing. However, at times it seemed to drone on. It felt much longer than it’s 600ish pages.
