Story
A visit to London’s Natural History Museum became a horror show as magic flooded Earth. Now, Thomas is entombed there as a Dungeon Core, with only the creatures on display available as minions. All over the globe, patches of land have been replaced by strange alien environments, containing not only monsters from myth and legend, but also humanity’s worst nightmares. Leviathans stir at the bottom of the ocean, dragons have reclaimed the skies, and shadows are once again something to fear.

I like the story, it fits in well with the rest of the series. I see why it ended where it did, a nice cliffhanger, but it was short. About ½ the size of others in the series. Hopefully the next will be back to normal, or a little longer.

Previously harmless animals are changed to nightmare threats and people are dying, seemingly due to incidents related directly to their interests.

Story
Jason and his friends just wanted to spend a week at the lake house. Time to relax, hang out, and catch up on old times. Then the System arrived. It only took a few hours for their world to become a real-life roleplaying game; trading some downtime for the need to learn new skills and powers while trying to defend their new home, their families, and survive. They don’t know the rules. They don’t know what’s coming next. What they do know is; they need to reinforce and expand their fort while protecting it, keep leveling up, and explore a dangerous new world.

The dad is, well a clueless dad. That isn’t a bad thing, except, he’s supposed to be a gamer and an ex military grunt. Given that I would have expected him to be a little more with it and a little less dumb.
For the way he comes off it’s like he was never in the military at any level and not really a gamer at all. This is fine and overall doesn’t matter much, it’s just the description and action done add up.
Overall though it’s a good story and a fun plot. I’m looking forward to the next book.
