Story
From the heyday of Occupy Wall Street through Bernie Sanders’ 2016 presidential campaign and beyond, young progressives have been increasingly drawn to socialist ideas. However, the movement’s goals need to be defined more sharply before it can effect real change on a national scale. Likewise, liberals and conservatives will benefit from a deeper understanding of the true nature of this ideology, whether they agree with it or not.

Robinson does a great job at articulating ideas of left and justifying them. Many are already on the left, they just don't know it and have never had an easy way to define their ideology. This book helps with that.

This was a. interesting read and full of techniques. Many of the tips do not consider the nuances in relationships but the tips that are offered do cover a lot of general situations. My suggestion is that this should not be your sole resource when it comes to strengthening relationships.

Story
Why is America living in an age of profound economic inequality? Why, despite the desperate need to address climate change, have even modest environmental efforts been defeated again and again? Why have protections for employees been decimated? Why do hedge-fund billionaires pay a far lower tax rate than middle-class workers? The conventional answer is that a popular uprising against "big government" led to the rise of a broad-based conservative movement.

Story
In July 2004, Barack Obama electrified the Democratic National Convention with an address that spoke to Americans across the political spectrum. Now, in The Audacity of Hope, Senator Obama calls for a different brand of politics: a politics for those weary of bitter partisanship and alienated by the "endless clash of armies" we see in Congress and on the campaign trail; a politics rooted in the faith, inclusiveness, and nobility of spirit at the heart of "our improbable experiment in democracy".

Great book of you're interested in compromise...
Reviewed: 12-31-17
Great book of you're interested in Obama's ideology which orbits around a central core of compromise. It could be argued that it is this ideology that has caused Democrats to lose on every level of government. Obama does make some freeway points and he provides a sensible action plan on a number of issues. However, I would of love to learn more about what it felt like to be a US Senator. The most interesting part of the book was when Obama would reflect on his life and position as a Senator. I also enjoyed hearing about the campaign.

Ten years ago the idea of getting into a stranger's car or walking into a stranger's home would have seemed bizarre and dangerous, but today it's as common as ordering a book online. Uber and Airbnb have ushered in a new era: redefining neighborhoods, challenging the way governments regulate business, and changing the way we travel. In the spirit of iconic Silicon Valley renegades like Steve Jobs and Bill Gates, another generation of entrepreneurs is using technology to upend convention and disrupt entire industries.

Story
For decades we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F*ck positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let's be honest, shit is f*cked, and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn't sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is - a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is his antidote to the coddling, let's-all-feel-good mind-set that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.

After listening through this audiobook I did not feel I learned much about how not to give a fuck. There were also a lot of corny lines where the author attempted to be funny that often threw off the experience. The most useful information is in the first couple of chapters. It was not terrible but definitely would not be something I recommend.
