I enjoyed the book very much. It took me a little bit of a second to get into the story but after really deep diving into the story. I couldn’t get enough of the characters. The story ended very well. I cannot wait for a sequel or the second book in this series. It was really well done.

I started this book as a joke for a friend, I am a huge Halloween person and joke with a friend that I’m on a Christmas book, I did plan on waiting til December to actually read it but after Chapter 1… I was curious… But I ended up loving every moment of it and this book will definitely be on my holiday rotation.

… STFU and the credits rolled! I believe there is book 3 to look forward to! But I have quite enjoyed this book, minus the intense miscommunications throughout this book with the two MC’s! But the ending towards it all was soo worth it and the narrator had me addicted to this from beginning to end!

Story
It’s been a year since eighteen-year-old River Lang’s best friend died in a car accident. And every day since, he’s had to pass by the depressing billboard that appeared as a result: a texting and driving PSA that reduces Dylan to a cautionary tale and River to the best friend of the dead kid at school. Dylan was so much more than a statistic, though, and River hates that everyone in town seems to have forgotten. When he’s caught improving (a.k.a. vandalizing) Dylan’s billboard, River is blackmailed into joining the Affinity Trials.

I’m sad because I am truly gonna miss the characters and their dynamic with each other.
It was a great novel, the characters were really fleshed out, the setting and the story flow all felt soo well done. The book isn’t what you expect when you start majorly when you get to the peak of the book, but it all ends very well to the point where you wish it didn’t.

Wade Westmore is used to being in the spotlight. So when he’s passed over for the lead in the spring musical, it comes as a major blow—especially when the role goes to his ex-boyfriend, Reese, who dumped him for being too self-involved. Shy sophomore Elijah Brady is used to being overlooked. Forget not knowing his name—most of his classmates don’t even know he exists. So when he joins the stage crew for the musical, he seems destined to blend into the scenery. When the two have a disastrous backstage run-in, Elijah proposes an arrangement that could solve both boys’ problems.

The narrator also sell this novel very well! They both did a wonderful job!

Beauty and the Beast Retelling meets Witches and Vampires
Reviewed: 09-06-24
I found out about this on Instagram and it intrigued me.
I like that the author is building their own world for all the rest of the Darkmore books.
I think the spice to romance is well put out, you slightly follow the storyline of Beauty and the Beast with its own new twists and turns which made it very enjoyable since it’s not a flat recopy of the story. There is a level of originality.
I did enjoy the ending, but as usual. I am the type of reader that is desperate to know more about what happens after.
But it’s a good quick read. I did it in two days while taking my breaks at work.

Not to jinx it or anything, but the stars seem to finally be aligning for Will Cowen. After accepting a dream promotion at one of New York City's most renowned publishing houses and moving in with his oldest friend, he's ready to dive headfirst into this new chapter—that is, until he crosses paths with Graham Austin. No matter how hard he tries, he can't help but put the wrong foot forward in front of the all-business and inconveniently gorgeous heir to the publishing empire.

The narrator sells the story!
Reviewed: 09-03-24
This book is straight up cheese. There were moments in the audiobook where I wanted to throw my phone because of how unrealistic the scenes are. 100% coming out from a cheese rom-com vibes. Which I love a good rom com, this was just a bit too much.
I didn’t grow attached to any of the characters in this book from the very unrealistic story. I wanted to, but it never fully took me there because the whole entire time, I would tell myself this would never happen. Even though I know it’s the work of fiction.
But the narrator is the reason I kept going, he really tries to sell the story, the emotions from all characters and the connection each character has in the novel. It was him, that I stuck it out for!

Story
Charlie Renfrew is too busy and too broke for a love life. There's no room in a schedule crammed with university, a full-time job, music, and his very committed relationship with overthinking. Hence the dating ban. Which is exactly when Ben Campbell shows up with his piercings, quirky knits, and indie rock fame. But maybe it's time for Charlie to trade caffeine for something hotter, blonder, and completely out of his comfort zone. Gorgeous, funny men don't happen to Charlie. Not like this. Even if it's ill-timed and too bloody complicated. But maybe a quick shag won't hurt . . .

He did well portraying the two MC’s.
Again. Author is amazing, captivating the story in a way that just wants you want to continue after the book ends. Love the nod to Aubrey and Blake in the story!
Honestly, at this point. I will sign up for any book the author has to offer!

Bookstore owner Aubrey Barnes likes his quiet, orderly London life, thank you very much. His shop may be struggling, his only employee is a menace, and his plumbing is one creaky pipe away from disaster, but he can handle it. Maybe. He cannot, however, handle the film company that's thrown his Soho street into chaos. And he definitely can't handle the charismatic American actor Blake Sinclair.

He didn’t plan to impersonate a top London valet either, but when the chance comes to present himself as the earl of Arvon’s new gentleman's gentleman, he grabs it.
