Story
After the latest mission of the starship Flying Dutchman, Earth is safe not just for a year, but for hundreds of years. The ship’s weary crew wonders what they will do with their lives in peacetime, but the enemy has other plans, and there is danger on the Homefront. Starring Zachary Quinto, R.C. Bray, Kate Mulgrew, Robert Picardo, and everyone's favorite AI, Skippy the Magnificent, alongside a full cast. Includes plenty of pew-pew-pew, original sound composition, and maybe some singing by R.C. Bray.

It’s good but not a must
Reviewed: 12-02-24
Good laughs and continued storyline, but isn’t a must for the series. Great sound effects and gives reality to awesomeness the series would make as a tv show.

Story
From out of the clear blue sky, an unknown chunk of rock from the frozen void strikes the Earth with unimaginable force, gouging a wound into the very crust of the planet. Millions die in an instant, and millions more await the end as the looming catastrophe unfolds...Thousands of miles away from the disaster, a call comes in the middle of the night. Families act, and react, and while panic spreads, the world keeps on spinning. Maybe a little slower, and perhaps with a teeny bit more of a tilt, but such things are a mere trifle to the existence of a planet.

Way better than expecting

This book is great for survivalist, prepper, homestead types as is backed with great ideas. Yet the info is provided quick enough that a fiction reader may still find it engaging. The storyline feels realistic compared to other apocalypse books, especially the zombie types. Looking forward to the rest of the series to see if the above holds true throughout.

Story
Henry never realized he was special. Sure, he’s an engineer who served his country, but when the virus hit, he found himself alone in a nearly empty world. That’s the key, though: nearly empty. There’s no one left who has the technical know-how to make the world run again...except for Henry. For humanity to survive, he will have to rebuild society out of the motley crew of survivors. It might be impossible, but at the same time, Henry has always loved a challenge.

Just ok

Definitely written by a man. Lost me half way when all the women were interested in the lead character like he was the only option they had. Just not realistic that within days they’re all dropping their panties for one guy. I guess it’s a male erotic fantasy story.

Story
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

I enjoyed the story, but to my surprise and great pleasure was the sarcasm and humor. The relationship between Skippy and Joe is priceless. The witty banter and bickering between the two, will just have you cracking up.

Great story line, but too many random characters
Reviewed: 02-14-24
Loved that the story line was different and not the same old EMP situation. Just feel some characters were introduced that were not necessary. Cruise boat guy, library girl, boy in suburbs, couple in Oregon… I get that the writer was trying to explain situations throughout the contentment and the suffering that occurred, but maybe radio updates to the commander would have been enough to explain. Or one of the characters being one of the special forces kids that they reunite with. Just too many random characters that just don’t enhance the book.

Story
Every modern city has one week’s worth of food to feed itself. Then it will collapse. Cut off the resources to New York, Sydney, or even a mid-size metropolis, and millions will soon starve. In Zero Day Code we see those immense and open, hyper-complex, networked supercities of the new millennium die. And in the last moments we see their vengeance take form as all the best and worst traits of humanity bubble to the surface.

Too many squirrels…
Reviewed: 05-04-23
The storyline includes too random characters that don’t add to the overall plot. Feels too scattered and all to follow at times. I enjoyed the main characters, but hard to know when you’re first starting who all the players are. The general, the Latvians, etc not needed. I get the idea is to show the bigger picture and how everything connects but just too much detail that’s not needed for the plot. Also the readers accent throws me off for a Brit and a bunch of Americans. Unless the story is about Damo and being told in his shoes it doesn’t make sense. Why have all the above detail but ignore the readers accent as a big conflict. Doesn’t make sense to me.

Not a survival book but a great story
Reviewed: 08-20-18
So I was hesitant on this book given the reviews. Yes, the book has more detail from the first person than others and no by no means is this a survival book you can learn something from skill wise. However, that said the story is well written, the main character does portray a women; her emotions and thoughts well. Definitely worth the time if you like EOTWAWKI series and have plenty of time to spare.
