Story
In Buck Lake, Colorado, the resident dog catcher, Collins, is on the verge of retirement. But something strange lurks in the woods, about to ruin his plans.... After 30 years, Collins is ready to be done with small-town animal control. His replacement, Blair, is a Gen Z vet student who hates mansplaining; they don’t get along. But on the eve of his retirement, Collins gets a call that changes everything. There’s been a report of a vicious wild dog on the loose.

This is really original and interesting. I found it compelling and terrifying. If you like the horror genre, you will like this.

Story
Follow New York Times best-selling author Mary Roach - but be careful not to trip - as she weaves through personal anecdotes and everyday musings riddled with her uncanny wit and amazingly analytical eye. These essays, which found a well-deserved home within the pages of Reader's Digest as the column "My Planet," detail the inner workings of hypochondriacs, hoarders, and compulsive cheapskates. (Did we mention neurotic interior designers and professional list makers?) For Roach, humor is hidden in the most unlikely places, which means that nothing is off limits.

I love Mary Roach, but .,,

Her science writing is truly brilliant. She can be truly hilarious. But this book is just mildly amusing personal anecdotes. I might put it on again if I'm having trouble falling asleep. If you like Dave Barry, you will like this. It's not bad, it's just not what I read her for.
