Story
1992. All across the United States respectable, upstanding citizens are showing up dead. These deaths could be accidents, and they don’t appear to be connected—until a fatal fall from a high-floor window attracts some unexpected attention. That attention comes from the secretary of defense. All of a sudden he wants an interagency task force to investigate. And he wants Jack Reacher as the army’s representative. If Reacher gets a result, great. If not, he’s a convenient fall guy.

It wasn’t my favorite Reacher book.

It wasn’t my favorite Reacher book. The constant drama in the narrators voice was exhausting and distracting. I hate to leave negative reviews, but I think I didn’t enjoy the book as much as I usually do bc of that factor.

I love the relationships in this book and the unraveling of the plot in unpredictable twists and turns. It keeps me on my toes and I gladly listen to chapters twice to understand those twists. There is a realistic and believable feel to this story. Just a great read. I look forward to the next book in this series.

This book captured me. I loved the perspective from the boys point of view. Very real and human. It surprised me many times and although I guessed the ending, I’m not sure many will.

Loved the pace of this book. Negative reviews of the narrator didn’t jive with my experience, I loved her voice and the cadence of the reading very much. The accents and male voices were well done. The story was interesting and now I can’t wait to listen to the next book in this series.

I listen to books while I work with my hands or drive and I enjoyed this one immensely. The integrity and respect the characters in this book have for each other was very refreshing. I found the story unpredictable, which I like, and the narration made it easy to get lost in the story without distraction. Great job!

I started listening to book one of the Sean Duffy series and at first couldn’t get past the darkness of the time, the accent, and the seemingly monotone voice. But then I gave it a second try and noticed the subtleties of expression in the narrator’s voice and I was hooked! Really enjoyed the whole series!! Some of the best detective books I’ve listened to.

Story
Emma Gatewood told her family she was going on a walk and left her small Ohio hometown with a change of clothes and less than $200. The next anybody heard from her, this genteel, farm-reared, 67-year-old great-grandmother had walked 800 miles along the 2,050-mile Appalachian Trail. And in September 1955, atop Maine's Mount Katahdin, she sang the first verse of "America, the Beautiful" and proclaimed, "I said I'll do it, and I've done it."

This story was wonderful in so many ways. Kicking down the norms of how women should behave and old women to boot!! I just loved her simple determination to do what she set out to do. To do it her way and without fanfare. Just beautiful.
