It stays interesting from start to finish, alternating between the specific storyline about a climbing accident and the lives of the main characters. Well researched and presented.

Decent takedown of woke progressivism. Should have had one more chapter on the current policy platform, linking specific items to the historical analogues. This link was implied but not elucidated.

Informative account of the history of America’s most successful domestic extremist group. Probably longer than it needed to be but the afterword was the best chapter. I’d recommend skipping to it for anyone losing interest in the middle.

The authors did a great job, bouncing between technical descriptions of training regimens and the logic behind them, and climbing stories, with lots of guest essays. I learned a lot and tended to agree with the opinions shared.
The narrator isn’t a climber which caused a number of confusing/amusing mispronunciations (“five point one three” for 5.13, “W-sixteen” for WI6, “Colon” Haley).

Detailed accounts of Rand’a efforts to publicly uncover a massive coverup. Lots of overlapping chronology but interesting throughout

Good coverage of the legal history and corporate response. Doesn’t cover at all the academic origins and doesn’t address how such a wildly internally conflicted and destructive set of principles became mainstream.

He should have narrated it himself—the narrator’s tone was serious, not irreverent (which is Taibbi’sbrand).
Interesting stories, lots of stuff I didn’t know, but in the end I don’t see a coherent thesis about why the media pushes hate, or a path forward.

I work in this field and still learned a lot. It kind of drags in the middle but chapter 11 is a masterpiece and it stays interesting till the end.

The last chapter is insane. Make sure to listen to that one even if you burn out earlier

Probably most (maybe only?) interesting for climbers but the story is intense, memorable, delivered well. Got me through several big square states!
