Story
Royal King is pure mischief wrapped in a cocky smirk and a heated stare. Five minutes in his small town and I knew he was going to be nothing but trouble. He’s an arrogant, tattooed playboy with a secret, and I’m the woman tasked with quietly cleaning up his family’s mess. I never dreamed he could be the mysterious stranger behind my hidden, late-night messages. It doesn’t matter what he says or how hard he tries to get under my skin. I won’t break. Not for him. Not for anyone. But when our secrets are exposed, all bets are off.

She doesn't realize I won't settle for only one night. He's a distraction I don't need. She'll say yes eventually because I'm not giving up.

writing got worse in this series
Reviewed: 09-10-24
This author just wrote her last book - as far as I am concerned. Characterization makes absolutely NO SENSE. Is the female lead, Sloan, confident and bold or beaten down and afraid? Yah. CJ Bloom sounds like a 40 year old from the 1950's trying to sound cool, current and 28. She failed. They both failed. Done with this series and this writer.

Female narrator Charlotte North is terrible. She reads with absolutely no emotion. She places an emphasis on the wrong words. Her narration basically ruins the book for me. I will no longer purchase an audible book where she is listed as narrator.

Story
My relationship with Hunter Delucia started backwards. We met at a wedding. Stealing glances at each other throughout the night, there was no denying an intense, mutual attraction. I caught the bouquet; he caught the garter. Hunter held me tightly while we danced and suggested we explore the chemistry sparking between us. His blunt, dirty mouth should’ve turned me off. But for some crazy reason, it had the opposite effect on me. We ended up back in my hotel room. The next morning, I headed home to New York leaving him behind in California with the wrong number.

Story
With their supplies reclaimed and food enough for the future, the group at Barry's cabin can do more than just scrape by. Between fruitful gardens, great friends, and sturdy fences—not to mention karaoke—life in the zompoc is better than ever. Nothing is perfect, however. Across the country, safe zones are mysteriously going dark, and Oregon's summer weather has turned the forest into a tinderbox. As the unknown danger closes in and smoke begins to fill the sky, the survivors are all too aware of how quickly plans unravel, fences fall, and luck runs out.

Are You Kidding Me?
Reviewed: 07-07-24
After spending so much time on this Cascadia Series, the ending/payoff was disappointing. Is this the last book in this series? Was it really necessary to continue this series after book 2? Or even after book 3? End of the World narrated by a favorite was my 1st draw into this writer and genre. The City Series is my absolute favorite series! I re-read the City series 2 or 3 times a year. And it also introduced me to Therese Plummer, narrator extraordinaire. From book 1 of Cascadia series I could barely get through it. Story and characterization were spotty - sometimes highly focused and then we just pop out somewhere else with little to no explanation. Completely ff past chapters read by "Craig" - cringe-worthy, but not in a good way. IF there is another book written in this series, I am not going to waste my time or credit. Please go back to 1 or 2 GOOD narrators with story lines similar to EOW and the City series.
