Story
When Santa Claus appears on Lance's autopsy table, he can't believe his eyes or ears as the not-so-jolly ghost accompanying the body tells Lance he's been murdered. Solving this murder will take time as the list of suspects is growing. For some, Christmas isn't the most wonderful time of the year, but it is the most profitable. To top it off, Lance's brother is in town visiting and he's not alone. He's got a ghost attached to him. Telling his brother that he sees ghosts just became even more important as this ghost insists Lance help him make things right before he moves on.

I am enjoying this series. Santa was just an angry ghost, but he didn't deserve to be killed. I didn't have the killer figured out prior to the reveal. I love seeing our MC's relationship grow, though I had an issue how slow it was going in prior books. Now it seems natural. Loved see Lance's brother coming to visit for Christmas and Lance discussing his abilities with him. Though he doesn't believe him immediately, he does eventually. I can't wait for more to come out in audio.

The last thing Lance expected to find while helping Franks look for a new house was a ghost. Shelia just wanted to graduate and get on to college, but that never happened. The last thing she remembers is being at home on the couch, then waking up in a deep hole in the middle of nowhere. She wants answers. How did she get there and why?

So, I’m really glad to finally see this relationship move forward. We went through the first two books with just a kiss. So now our MC’s have brought Frank’s into the whole seeing ghosts. While helping him look for a house, they find a ghost & her name is Sheila. She isn’t haunting the house; she just comes back to visit from time to time. Her parents had sold the house after she had gone missing as they couldn’t live there any longer. So, I did have the killer figured out and the reasoning behind it right off the bat, but it didn’t take away from the story.

Story
As a medical examiner, seeing ghosts has its advantages. After being informed by a ghost that there is a mass grave in the area, Lance and Detective Angus Young feel the fallout. As one investigates the murders, the other investigates the bodies, both trying to piece together what happened. Luckily, the dead aren't all silent. As ghosts of the victims appear, clues to what happened start to come together. The only problem now is figuring out who the killer is and catching him before he strikes again.

3.5 stars because, seriously? Book two and we are only in the kissing stage? I just can’t even. It was okay in the first book, but by now the relationship needed to have progressed. I did like the investigation and the interactions with the ghosts.

Story
Angus grew up around the strange. With his mother able to see and speak to ghosts, he's grown up knowing there are things most people can't see or understand. When he accidentally catches Lance arguing with a ghost, he knows he has to step in before the man thinks he's going crazy. As Lance adjusts to his new ability, he also realizes seeing ghosts has its advantages. When several women are murdered in the area, it's up to Lance and Angus to work with the ghosts of the victims to catch the killer.

Pretty good start to a new series. I love the take on ghosts. Making friends and hanging out, way cool. I enjoyed our MC’s. Lance survived a horrific auto accident that left him with the abilities to see and speak to ghosts. Angus’ mother has been able to do this his entire life so it doesn’t shock him. They team together with Angus leading the investigation since he is a detective and Lance finding clues as he is the coroner, and being able to speak to them helps Angus question them. My major issue is that this is a way tooooooooo slow burn. Anyway, off to the next one.

Being rejected by family hurt like hell, but I kept my head high, left my toxic relatives behind, and moved across the country to Gaynor Beach CA. Luckily, I have great furry company. My bulldog puppy, Widget, was dumped on me for not meeting my parents' ridiculously high standards either, so we're comforting each other. With a nice rental house, and a new job, Widget and I were ready for a fresh start, until I got a devastating diagnosis. I can't take care of Widget properly while trying to save my own life, and I expect a long hard road.

A really good start to a new series
Reviewed: 11-30-24
I had initially read book 4 in error first, so I knew these two were going to be together and some of the hardships several couples went through. But I'm glad that I got to see exactly what they went through. I was sickened how Colin's family treated him & Widget. They just threw both of them away. Also, what Colin's doctor did was unforgiveable. He needed to lose his medical license. James is conflicted if he should adopt or foster an animal. His best friend runs a small rescue out of his home & is just overrun by animals. Colin comes to him with the idea of giving up Widget as he doesn't think he can take care of her as he is so sick. Arthur comes up with a different idea of introducing James to help him out. I loved watching these two slowly become friends and eventually falling in love. As I had mention in the 4th book, James' family is a bit overbearing, and they do have a tendency to run roughshod over everyone. I can't wait for the rest of the books to come out in audio as Michael Ferraiuolo did an awesome job bringing these MCs to life.

Why is it that the first attractive man to look my way mistakes me for a bad guy, stuffs me in the trunk of his car, and ships me off to an island where I’m positive the only thing waiting for me is my own murder? I mean... yeah, Tavish is charismatic and fun, but did I mention the whole trunk thing? Oh, maybe I forgot to mention his peculiar group of friends who keep promising to “help” me, but why are they running around with masks and weapons while praising fences?

Tavish finally gets over his Jackson crush & gets his own man. Tavish & Ellis were perfect for each other. I love every time I read Daddy Henry's asking why his part of the text conversation. Cracks me up every single time. So we start off with a major miscommunication about who Ellis really is. When Tavish finally figures out that he was given wrong information, he then tries his hardest to get Ellis to forgive him and keep him safe. I love when the entire crew comes together to figure out why the bad guys are after Ellis and band together to keep him safe. I loved this one, as I have loved every book in this series. I can't wait for more.

Great Start to a new series
Reviewed: 10-31-24
An awesome start to a new series by the talented Charlie Cochet. We have the story of a former government assassin Álvaro Montero, who is now know as D (for Delta) who was killed on a mission. When he was saved & came out of his medically induced coma, he is recruited by Alpha Orion, a company that appears to do good. Okay, I have to just jump out & say I have an idea who Alpha is & if I am right then that would be so cool. There isn't any one thing that makes me think this just a gut feeling. Our other MC is Caiden who was burned on his last mission with the CIA. On the night that he was burned, he had met & knocked boots w/D. But D disappears and shortly there after the cops show up & Caiden is taken in for questioning. As he is leaving the station, he is picked up w/an accusations of being a terrorist. Someone betrayed both of them and it is their mission to find out who it is. They are brought back together when Alpha comes into some intel on someone who collects and destroys information for a price. He holds on to it & then disposes it when instructed. Apparently he doesn't read the information and he is highly sought after & trusted. Apparently there is a flash drive with a lot of information that could take down a lot of dirty business men, politicians, etc. He & his wife are having their house overhaul & it's the perfect cover for Caiden, the designer, and D the construction worker. They now have access to their home to look for this information. During all of this, they have rekindled the steaming hotness that they knew was there all those years ago. But D is hiding something that he is afraid that once Caiden finds out about, Caiden will hate him. Just as they figure out where the flash drive is located at, the bad guy shows up & takes D & a couple of other hostages who also wants the drive. Now Caiden is racing against the clock to save D along w/the rest of the crew. The identity of the bad guy was a shock & I never saw that coming. It was a very well balanced of suspense & sexy times. There was a lot of snark and bickering that made me laugh. I so can't wait to see where this series goes. I really really enjoyed it. The amazing Greg Boudreaux did an awesome job bring them all to life.

Y'all knew it was coming at some point the magi was going put into motion their last stand to be free, along with their shifter brethren. Be warned, you will need Kleenex as it takes you through the wringer. Our pride gets divided with some ending up across the great divide and others left to continue the fight. The US government is not going to let things go easily. They start filling the airways with lies which make it even harder for the magi & their alliance to get people out. What they were willing to do was horrible. Also, we have seen some of the compound through the books, but when Cosmo sees it and voices what he is seeing really brings home that none of them ever had a childhood at all. Even after the magi & shifters negotiate terms, things are not all sunshine & rainbows. There is still violence going on. The reunion when the pride comes back together was filled with so many happy tears. I am saddened that this series is coming to an end, but it's been one heck of a ride.

I loved Andras, he is a mongrel, a very unflattering name for someone who’s father is an actual wolf and his mother was a shifter. He is hated by his packed and treated horribly. Bowie is a vampire who has a heart of gold. He is just a sweet man. Even after everything Andras has gone through, it never destroyed his heart. Bowie comes to the pack looking for their best tracker and the Alpha begrudgingly agrees for Andras to go with Bowie. Other than Ava who is so sweet to Andras, Bowie is the first one to only refer to him by name. Bowie needs his help to find missing children. We then have them trying to figure out who stole the children, where they were taken to and how to get them back. The bad guy is really evil and I wanted to see some torture, I mean punishment. Along they way, our MC’s fall in love and they made such a cute couple. Along the way we meet some interesting characters and I can’t wait for the next book. I hope we get to see Bowie and Andras again.
