Story
People with borderline or narcissistic personality disorders have a serious mental illness that primarily affects their intimate, personal, and family relationships. Often they appear to be normally functioning at work and in public interactions, and narcissists may even be highly effective, in the short term, in some work or social situations. However, in intimate relationships, they can be emotional, aggressive, demeaning, illogical, paranoid, accusing, and controlling - in the extreme.

Required reading for those looking to cope
Reviewed: 08-22-21
This book doesn't waste time. It goes beyond defining and diagnosing the borderline or narcissistic personality to focusing on the caretaker and how we can step out of that role. I was impressed with how much time was spent showing how to recuperate a sense of self and take those baby steps out into the world when letting go of an unhealthy relationship. She is so clear and kind in outlining how to proceed, specifically and successfully. If you are coping with difficult personalities in your life, this book is bound to help.

A Definitive Primer for Conscious Living
Reviewed: 07-29-21
Every book I have ever read on living an awakened, authentic life has been leading me to Dr. Shefali's transformative work. This is a book I devoured in print and soaked up over Audible and, I imagine, will return to as a reference for embracing authenticity for the rest of my life. I am a literature professor and have been engaged in trauma healing and existential quests for half a century, so I don't say this lightly. Dr. Shefali merges secular training with spiritual insight and is singularly poised to lead a new generation of women to freedom. This book says, "Eat me!" "Drink me!" like no other, and all are invited to the table. You will find me still there.
