Story
Nate Carter left Australia's elite SASR unit after a tragic accident. Shattered by the experience, he thought taking a job in the States might be a good way to start over. His father's former employer, McKay-Taggart, has a position for him in the bodyguard unit. He never imagined himself risking his life for celebrities and the wealthy, but it will do for now. It will also give him a chance to reconnect with old friends, including the girl who'd been like a little sis to him ten years before. These days, however, his feelings for Daisy O'Donnell are anything but brotherly.

Daisy is an adorable ball of chaos
Reviewed: 12-04-24
I love Daisy so much! She manages to accomplish so much from what seems like a dumpster fire in the making. Nate is just what she needs to keep her just inside the lines of safety and she is just what Nate needs to fill his world with light, love and energy. Life will never be boring for Nate 😂
Ryan is perfection as always. I could listen to him for days.

I can never read a physical book from Lexi Blake’s Masters and Mercenaries world without hearing Ryan West’s voice in my head narrating it. I’m in awe of his ability to bring these characters to life no matter the nationality or gender. When somebody asks which book world would i want to visit/live in I choose the MM world every time. I love reading the stories of the next generation and getting pieces of the OG crew too. Thanks Lexi for giving us this large, extended family. 💜

I’ll do anything to keep my son safe and not sacrifice my responsibility to my patients. I’m desperate. Desperate enough to beg broody Special Agent Micah Emmett for help. But he has a job, and it doesn’t include protecting me. Why should he? He doesn’t know me.

When small-town Nebraska sheriff Hixon Drake meets Greta Dare, the connection couldn't be stronger, but the timing couldn't be worse. Dealing with the fallout of a divorce he never wanted and setting up a new home for his kids, Hix becomes that guy, that one he never wanted to be, and puts a stop to things before they can even start. Protecting his kids and himself is his only priority. Greta, on the other hand, has found the place for her and the brother she adores that's perfect for them - a sleepy little town in Nebraska.

I loved the story and the narration. Forget the billionaires, sometimes a story about a small town sheriff and hairdresser, and all the complications of life, with mature characters is just what you need.

Story
Jenna’s parents had finally given in, and there she was, at a New York club with her best friends, watching the legendary band Avenue A, carrying her demo in hopes of slipping it to the guitarist, Jake Kincade. Then, from the stage, Jake catches her eye, and smiles. It’s the best night of her life. It’s the last night of her life. Minutes later, Jake’s in the alley getting some fresh air, and the girl from the dance floor comes stumbling out, sick and confused and deathly pale. He tries to help, but it’s no use. He doesn’t know that someone in the crowd has jabbed her with a needle.

Doser is new favorite slang word but other than that I enjoyed the visit with old friends but the story wasn’t as engaging as others in the series. I’d love to see a bit of a time jump with the next book in the series.

Rock bottom has never felt so good. At least, that's what I tell myself when I bargain with the enemy and score a renovation for my hair salon. The enemy? Nick Stamos, my best friend's older brother. He's got a body and face the Greek gods would envy, but his personality needs a major overhaul. He's surly. A rule follower.

They brought this story to life in a new way and allowed me to enjoy nuances I had missed before. Both of them have been added to my list of favorite narrators.

Story
I’m wealthy, powerful, and able to get any woman I want. So why do I feel so empty inside? In search of a deeper me, I take a sabbatical from my privileged life. One year of backpacking around Europe: a new identity, no contacts, and no money. Not a bad plan, I think. Until I get there. A crowded hostel room, body odor, and beer bongs—there are no words for the fresh hell I’ve landed in. But amid the chaos, I meet my new roommate, Hayden Whitmore. She sleeps in the bed opposite me, and I openly admit to staring at her more than I sleep.

The main characters were disappointing with no real character growth and the story disjointed at times. I’m not even sure why I listened to the whole thing. I think I was always holding out hope that it would get better. Luckily I was able to listen through the Kindle Unlimited program. If I had purchased it I would have been irritated about throwing away my money.
