Story
Why do women live longer than men? Why do women have menopause? Why are women more likely to get Alzheimer’s? Why do girls score better at every academic subject than boys until puberty, when suddenly their scores plummet? And does the female brain really exist? In Eve, Cat Bohannon answers questions scientists should have been addressing for decades. With boundless curiosity and sharp wit, she covers the past 200 million years to explain the specific science behind the development of the female sex.

I enjoyed the science presented in an understandable way. I also liked the uncertainty - no rigid doctrine here. And I enjoyed the personal anecdotes sprinkled throughout. I will be quoting and recommending this book to people.

So many overlooked women in history finally given an airing - and their unrecognized influence on the work of many male artists considered the vanguards of their time! Let’s end that injustice with this new information. Thanks for doing the research and writing this useful book.

Story
Against the backdrop of worldwide, unexplainable natural disasters, Dr. Virginia Marilyn Edwards (Emmy Award-winner Kerry Washington) seeks out Agent Scott Thomas (Emmy Award-winner Laurence Fishburne) at a secretive government headquarters. Virginia claims these events are signs, and unless Agent Thomas helps her, she believes things will only get worse. Her desperation is dialed up higher with a shocking proclamation as she stands before him pregnant, weak, and weary: “Agent Thomas,” she says, “I believe I am Mary.”

Great voice actors can’t save nonsensical notion
Reviewed: 02-02-23
This had fantastic actors performing beautifully material that was a bit silly. It would have been more interesting if it were a mystery about water.
Most of all I was tripped up by the fundamental error in theology relating to the concept of “Immaculate Conception” which the writers conflated with the “Virgin Birth”, over and over. In the theology, Mary was the result of the Immaculate Conception - made clean of Eve’s Original Sin to be a fit vessel for giving birth to Jesus.
It all seemed to conclude rather suddenly. I felt like the writers had put themselves in a corner and couldn’t get out.

It amazes me how people who suffer from appalling treatment and the vitriol of people who feel their power threatened, reply with extraordinary compassion. This is a deeply thoughtful and highly researched book.

Feels repetitive and disjointed.
Reviewed: 06-09-19
This summary almost feels like the writer grabbed a bunch of online reviews and joined them all together. Many ideas were repeated more than twice. The analysis could have been much shorter for that reason. Also I wanted a summary, not an evaluation or critique. The reader sounds computer generated.
