Story
In April 1942, Lale Sokolov, a Slovakian Jew, is forcibly transported to the concentration camps at Auschwitz-Birkenau. When his captors discover that he speaks several languages, he is put to work as a Tätowierer (German for tattooist), tasked with permanently marking his fellow prisoners. Imprisoned for more than two and a half years, Lale witnesses horrific atrocities and barbarism - but also incredible acts of bravery and compassion. Risking his own life, he uses his position to exchange jewels and money from murdered Jews for food to keep his fellow prisoners alive.

I wanted to hate this story. There is noting here that is not expected but I did find myself wondering how hard this young man struggled with the decisions he had to make. He lost a lot but never his way.

Story
Something terrifying that must not be seen. One glimpse and a person is driven to deadly violence. No one knows what it is or where it came from.Five years after it began, a handful of scattered survivors remain, including Malorie and her two young children. Living in an abandoned house near the river, Malorie has long dreamed of fleeing to a place where her family might be safe. But the journey ahead will be terrifying: 20 miles downriver in a rowboat blindfolded with nothing to rely on but Malorie's wits and the children's trained ears. One wrong choice and they will die. And something is following them....

The story is very well written and very much unexpected. This world is not a fairy tale land and super intense. I feel like there is no way to understand or explain this story. What if this happens? It has a way of drawing you in and will make you ask what if this could happen. I feel that this is an horror story.

Story
Benella is concerned with two things - avoiding the two village boys who torment her and scrounging for food to help feed her family. Unfortunately the best wild fruit and vegetables are near the walls of the estate, a dark, misty place inhabited by an unforgiving beast. When her tormentors lock her behind the massive gates, Benella knows her fate is sealed. Yet the fate isn't one she expects. Her encounter with the beast starts a bizarre cycle of bargaining for her freedom, a freedom the beast seems determined to see her lose.

This is a great story

Would you try another book from M.J. Haag and/or Sierra Kline?
Yes I would for sure. She has a great imagination and this story draws you in.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Depravity?
I love the development of the Beast and Benella's relationship. I think the difference in the fairy tale and the story are many and the relationship is very different, Benella as would anyone in this time period has many hardships.
What didn’t you like about Sierra Kline’s performance?
I did not. I am sorry, her voice is lovely but is not the voice for Benella in my mind. She reads the whole story in a very sexy tone, it takes away from the story.
Any additional comments?
I got one more audible of this book but read the last one on my device. I love these books and it is worth a read as well as audible books.

Story
At 22, Cheryl Strayed thought she had lost everything. In the wake of her mother's death, her family scattered and her own marriage was soon destroyed. Four years later, with nothing more to lose, she made the most impulsive decision of her life: to hike the Pacific Crest Trail from the Mojave Desert through California and Oregon to Washington State - and to do it alone. She had no experience as a long-distance hiker, and the trail was little more than “an idea, vague and outlandish and full of promise.” But it was a promise of piecing back together a life that had come undone.
