Sad to see it end.

Okay we get it, Pip, you’re traumatized. We know the Stanley incident broke you. We get it. We get it. And we shall all go forward carrying that same gun in our hearts.
In all seriousness, I am sad this series is over. There were definitely some suspensions of disbelief required to make it through, but I loved it. The writing was wonderfully done and I was captivated throughout all 3 books. This one was my favorite.
Really hoping for a tv series at some point.

Story
Pretty and popular high school senior Andie Bell was murdered by her boyfriend, Sal Singh, who then killed himself. It was all anyone could talk about. And five years later, Pip sees how the tragedy still haunts her town. But she can't shake the feeling that there was more to what happened that day. She knew Sal when she was a child, and he was always so kind to her. How could he possibly have been a killer?

It sucked me in

Once I started, it was hard to stop. I think the story was done very well and the narration was good, save for the men all having the same teenage boy voice. I can look past that though. There are of course some things that I, sometimes aloud, thought to myself “is that really how it works? Did they really do that?” But overall, it’s a good story and I’m hoping that the next one lives up to it.

Story
Theirs was the most captivating American political partnership since Richard Nixon and Henry Kissinger: a bold and untested president and his seasoned, relentless vice president. Confronted by one crisis after another, they struggled to protect the country, remake the world, and define their own relationship along the way. In Days of Fire, Peter Baker chronicles the history of the most consequential presidency in modern times through the prism of its two most compelling characters, capturing the elusive and shifting alliance of George Walker Bush and Richard Bruce Cheney as no historian has done before.

This book took me over a month to complete and at times I struggled to stay with it but it was so worth it. This is a very comprehensive account of the 8 years Bush 43 held the office of the president. I read Decision Points before this one and this really helped fill in any blanks there may have been. I feel like I know all there is to know about George W. Bush and most of his administration. Great book and finishing it makes for a sad day. It's been a part of my morning commute for quite some time. Definitely recommend, and will recommend Decision Points as well.

With dramatic flair, Jeff Guinn delivers the definitive portrait of Bonnie and Clyde. These media-savvy outlaws appealed to America's Depression-era hunger for swashbuckling characters. Glowing radio and newspaper reports transformed these "public enemies" into celebrities - much like the cinema gangsters of the time.

I Feel Like I Know Bonnie and Clyde

Where does Go Down Together rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Well, it is the first one I have listened too till the end so I would say that, so far, it is the best audiobook I have listened to.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Jonathan Hogan?
Maybe. He has a pleasant voice with one exception which has been noted by several reviewers. I am not sure if he has a speech impediment or if he was drinking when he narrated this book but some of the issues are pretty distracting. He drops "s"' from a lot of words including plurals, which forces the listener to stop and think about what he just said. The problem I ran into is that when that would happen, the story would continue but I would be stuck in the previous word or even paragraph because I would have to fix the sentence in my head to move on. Maybe that's a personal issue, but it happened. One of the worst was when he said the word "Dallas", which appears countless times in the narrative. So many times the "s" was dropped and it was completely distracting. So, I think I would listen to another book narrated by him if the topic was of great interest, but only because I spent 12 hours or so listening to him and I can deal with the distraction of his speech because he actually does have a pleasant reading voice. Save for that speech issue, I would want him to read my biography, if I had one.
Any additional comments?
Overall, this was a wonderful narrative. I honestly felt like I knew the outlaw couple along with every other member of the gang and their families and, while that had a lot to do with the writing of the book itself, it had a lot to do with the man reading it as well. This was truly a journey and an emotional one at that. I didn't want it to end but, as with Bonnie and Clyde, it had to. I would definitely recommend this to friends and family and have done so already, however noting that the narrator might be tough to listen to at first. Overall, 5 star book without the narrator.
