Julia is a lovely character, noble and self-sacrificing. Unfortunately, William isn’t so noble.

I really loved this book, overall. The narrator is fantastic! The story, while solid, offers a disappointing character in William. He’s portrayed as powerful and selfish. He’s constantly worried about finances and finally decides to choose Julia only after kissing Alice and almost proposing to her. I didn’t like William.
