Silas is inducted into the System, becoming the last in a long line of Earth's "forerunners." The rewards are great, but the danger is greater. We are not alone in the universe. The fate of five worlds hangs on how their forerunners perform. Will Silas have what it takes to win Earth a place in the multiverse? Or will Earth become another mining world stripped of all resources and left a barren husk floating in the cosmos?

This series is a hidden gem
Reviewed: 10-24-24
I'm very surprised that I haven't really heard more about this series on the lit RPG forums, it hits all the sweet spots. I binged the first three books and now waiting a few days for the fourth to drop.
If you're like me and you like a dopamine hit with some level ups and power progression of an OP MC then this is for you. Narration is on point, smooth and calm yet engaging. System makes sense, kind of, and the story really pulls you in. Almost as good as the primal hunter and surpasses HWFWM IMO.
Do yourself a favour and get this book right now, I promise you won't regret it.

Story
Matt's in the prime of his life. So when his doctor tells him he only has months to live, he figures it's just really bad luck. But it's about to get a whole lot worse. When Matt's Earthly form finally expires, a truck-avatar system gives him the opportunity to become a hero on the paradise world of Gaia, a supposedly verdant, rich land teeming with plants and potential. What he finds instead is a place completely bereft of life. A literal dead planet. Thanks a lot, truck.

Story
The usual result of a human taking a runaway semitruck head-on is a very sudden, very fast track to the pearly gates. But for one newly noncorporeal man, there's another option: become a dungeon. Feeling sorry for the desperate angel assigned to him, the man relents. Heck, if it doesn't work out, he can always chat with Saint Peter about it later. Next thing you know, he's a dungeon. Admittedly, a small run-down, somewhat unimpressive dungeon (more of a house, actually), but you gotta start somewhere, right?

Story
When the cultivators came to Earth, they destroyed our entire civilization in a matter of hours. Armies fell, cities burned, and that was before the moon turned red and filled our world with monsters. Now, over a decade later, what's left of humanity slaves under the heels of our Qi-infused masters. The luckiest of us might even become one of them, they say—if we serve the Dynasty well enough and harness the power of Qi. But I want none of that. I'm sick of serving, and I want nothing to do with their world. Instead, I want them to pay for what they did to mine.

basically the title, progression of a chaotic neutral monster MC, it's viewed by the world as very dangerous and evil, it's not really good or evil but it likes head scratches and eating all living beings. good stuff, looking forward to the sequel if there is one.

intellectually challenged MC
Reviewed: 10-28-23
I am on book three of the series and decided to give a review, since it has been an entertaining book.
if you've read big sneaky barbarian, it's similar, some parts are funny. it's probably not meant to be a masterpiece of literature but it does the job of entertainment and exploring a different type of power gain system. have not seen much similar to this type of power gain system.
I'm 30 years old and I felt it was a bit immature, I would have loved this book in my teens but it was still enjoyable for an old man.
MC advances pretty fast in power which is dopamine inducing. Most of the book is fights, lvl ups and exploring.
The only downside is the obvious blunders the MC falls into and the plot armor that saves him. It can be infuriating to watch the MC do really stupid shit constantly as a plot driver. it's like if the guy that dies first in every horror movie doing the obviously deadly thing becomes an MC of an litrpg book.
All in all worth the listen but im not losing any bodily fluids in excitement.

Story
Becoming a knockoff Dracula in tight leather pants was never part of Vincent’s plans. Neither was being summoned to another world by a cult of vampire wannabes. But both happened. Now, Vincent’s left to pick up the tattered pieces of his humanity as he tries to grow strong enough to keep his family safe. The world is filled with nightmares, and the looming threat of losing his soul stands between his goal and his reality, so it’s not like it will be too hard or anything. Hell should tremble. A good man is going to war.

Absolutely enthralled

Picked this book up since I liked a previous book from this author. I was on the fringe until I read a bad review that said the MC was a sociopath, that really sold me.
what I like about this book:
power progression is fast and full of dopamine inducing level ups.
MC is likeable and relatable.
side characters are not NPCs.
plot is great and nothing like I've read in this genre.
narration is top notch.
really entertaining.
well written without plot armor.
engaging, couldn't stop listening. finished it in one listen.
what I dislike about this book:
there isn't a sequel and now I'm sitting here in the silence feeling empty inside.

3 nodes opened this book, 20 hours. Was hoping to see more progression and Zack at D grade. just a lot of epiphanies and thoughts about his foundation. no real power gain, which is pretty boring for a progression fantasy.
I will however continue the series as I'm quite invested but the lack of level up dopamine is starting to make me less excited for the next book.
I'd like to see Zach progressing faster and becoming the absurd monster that he's bound to become, if the heavens allow.

In the small village of Berring, Calder runs the Broken Mug tavern. He was a gifted swordsman and would have been a war hero if only his side had won. His injured leg tells him his days of fighting are over. When a dark portal opens in his village’s main square and orcs stream through it, slaughtering his neighbors and setting everything on fire, it brings with it a second chance. A soldier of light appears and grants Calder a weapon stone so he can help fight against the forces of darkness.

oh man I'm glad I gave this one a chance even though some intellectuals gave this a poor review. one of the best narration performances I've heard and I have finished close to 600 books in this genre so it's high praise.
writing draws you in and keeps you engaged and exited, one or two minor plot armor instances but overall good. well worth the time and credit.
