Story
Few men can say they have known Africa as Capstick has known itleading safaris through lion country; tracking man-eating leopards along tangled jungle paths; running for cover as fear-maddened elephants stampede in all directions. And of the few who have known this dangerous way of life, fewer still can recount their adventures with the flair of this former professional hunter-turned-writer.

Finally!! Capstick books on Audio!!
Reviewed: 12-18-24
I used to read Capstick’s books years ago, in my teens snd 20s more and have a decent collection of them, but kept endlessly wishing they were on Audible or some form of audio. To my delight one popped up in my feed a few days ago! I just figured beings as these were written in probably the ‘70s that there wasn’t much hope. They did not disappoint. With a fabulous narrator, the books were as entertaining and amusing (along with horrifying- you can only cope with the stories with humour) as they ever were. Thank you thank you!!!!

Story
This story is dedicated to all the victims of sexual slavery in German concentration camps, who had to endure inhumane suffering under the Nazi regime. For many years after the atrocities had been committed, both sides - the abusers and the abused - still vehemently denied certain aspects of the Holocaust, and even the victims refused to admit the ugly truth about their incarceration, some out of fear, some out of shame, until several women decided to break an unofficial oath of silence, and brought their stories to life. This book is based on one of those stories. Emilia is a young Jewish woman, whose life slowly turns into a nightmare as she finds herself facing a dreadful choice: to secure her family's very existence by offering herself to one of the men who had put her behind the walls with barbed wire, or perish together with the least fortunate ones.

Excellent book with a narrator that brought it to life! Loved the accent used. Loved the last third or so of the book as Emilia’s life began to turn around. And Klaus (sp?) was an excellent and entertaining character! Appreciated how Emelia lived his humour and wasn’t over sensitive in so many areas like some heroines have been portrayed. How she could laugh at him joking about the worst things that had happened. Well done!

The absolute absurdity….
Reviewed: 10-24-24
It is hard to believe that humans can inflict such suffering on each other through these horrible means of false accusations, false evidence, total lack of unbias, and complete tunnel vision. However, it makes me think of how many times we as humans do these types of things on a tiny scale, on a daily basis that does not have such devastating repercussions. Let us never forget that “but for the grace of God, there go I” in this case, may we be grateful that our own mistakes and biases haven’t caused such horrifying ramifications- and if we were to ever be placed on the witness stand- that we would remember God is our witness, and we must stay true to the truth as we know it. Even if an innocent person goes free, he is never free inside- “vengeance is mine” sayeth the Lord, “I will repay.” And those who gave false testimony and created false evidence were never free inside either, and fall under that statement as well.
What an incredibly well written and narrated book! Sometimes I could only listen to one story at a time, it was so sickening…thanks to all those who work so hard to prove innocence. May you be blessed!!

I’ve read the books themselves and embarrassing amount of times and am enjoying listening to them. AGAIN!!

The heroine was a bit “too good” but other than that, what a great story!!!! E. C. Always manages to teach about some aspect of life, like how sugar was made in this case. To me that puts her books in another category of greatness!

Tim Kennedy has a problem; he only feels alive right before he’s about to die. Kennedy, a Green Beret, decorated Army sniper, and UFC headliner, has tackled a bull with his bare hands, jumped out of airplanes, dove to the depths of the ocean, and traveled the world hunting poachers, human traffickers, and the Taliban. But he’s also the same man who got kicked out of the police department, fire department, and as an EMT, before getting two women pregnant four days apart, and finally, been beaten up by his Special Forces colleagues.

Fabulous Non-Stop Stories-willing to self assess negatively and positively, too much cussing!
Reviewed: 02-06-24
I enjoyed every moment of this book- except I’ve read modern military non fiction that probably used a 3rd of the f-bombs. Call me weird, but I strongly dislike that word and it was dropped unnecessarily like snowflakes, even when there wasn’t whole lot of stress. Loved the story after story after story, every one fascinating. My gut felt hollow over the inability to complete their mission with the trafficking , but encouraged by Tim’s assessment that it wasn’t a sprint, but a marathon, and people are still trying. I’ve never read about someone who crammed so much into one lifetime. Tim’s growth in character was remarkable. One question though- in that last UFC Champion game with Romero, did Tim really hold onto Romeros glove and hit him repeatedly illegally? Or is that just one side? Because he doesn’t mention that in his book. In true honesty, if it occurred, he should have talked about it. He’s a great narrator! It’s also neat to hear the inside story on the Hunting Hitler series!!! You did a lot of good Mr. Kennedy!

Too much gush at the end
Reviewed: 12-28-23
The “perfection” of the heroine, and at the end, the over the top “caring and unselfishness” and gush. It was unrealistic how Carter was so perfect and selfless in every way. Honourable mention- her weakness and inevitable death someday was accepted and not “suddenly” cured. That was realistic. I generally enjoy Eden’s books a bit more.

Fascinating- too dark
Reviewed: 12-16-23
I absolutely adored this book for the first half or so. It was fascinating, hilarious- loved the dry humour, but as one other reviewer stated, starts good, becomes too dark- too much killing, easy killing, and the whole controlled assassin thing. I hesitate to dive into the second book right away. I need a light weight break. Otherwise I love this authors books!
The female narrator was really good except for mouth noises but I’m bad about that. The male narrator was crazy good, especially when imitating the accents!!!

Too much “trauma”, narrator a bit extreme
Reviewed: 09-15-23
I really enjoy SMW books, however, narrator makes the girls sound overly girly, a bit simple, and too much accent, esp in comparison to the males. Not sure why the women are so “southern”. And as is a SMW modus operandi, every character has SO MUCH TRAUMA in their past lives. Such HURTS. We all have some pain in our lives, and I can accept that each person in the story might have some, even extreme pain, but it’s too much. Not everyone we meet is traumatized. Also, the endless echo in every book of someone wanting to be a hero. Really???? I recognize we do want to be known for something good, but to be called a hero is a bit much. That theme runs through other series of hers too. I think she needs to calm her characters down a bit. Otherwise, great plots, very interesting, and I’ve relistened to, and read her books many times!!! Oh, and otherwise, the narrator is really good!
