Very educational, especially if you live in NJ PA or NY! Really has pushed me to pay attention to the plants I plant outdoors!

If you care about the environment & “all” animals & plants, then I advise checking this book out! Easy to understand & well written! Kept my interest the whole time! Plus there are great statistics as well! The author focuses on NJ PA & NY area but this is totally worth while if you live elsewhere.

Story
Dr. Catherine Kleier invites us to open our eyes to the phenomenal world of plant life and to the process she calls “Natura Revelata”, the joy of celebrating and learning from the secrets of nature. As Dr. Kleier shares her knowledge with contagious excitement for her subject, she emphasizes the middle ground: Instead of focusing on cell microbiology or the study of ecosystems and habitats, she stresses the basic biology, function, and the amazing adaptations of the plants we see all around us.

Very informative but be prepared for some corny jokes!
Reviewed: 01-08-21
The first chapter I listened to, I wasn’t sure if I could listen to the narrator for the entire length of the book but happily, she grew on me & by the end, I was very satisfied with what I learned, with a few chuckles along the way. But I will say if you find yourself one of those people that get annoyed with people’s voices easily (like my husband) &/or can’t stand corny jokes, then I would say not to bother with this title. Otherwise, excellent 5 stars all around!

Story
Our insatiable demand for animals - for jewelry, pets, medicine, meat, trophies, and fur - is driving a worldwide poaching epidemic, threatening the continued existence of countless species. Rachel Nuwer, an award-winning science journalist with a background in ecology, takes listeners on a narrative journey to the front lines of the trade: to killing fields in Africa, traditional medicine black markets in China, and wild meat restaurants in Vietnam. Through exhaustive first-hand reporting that took her to 10 countries, Nuwer explores the forces currently driving the demand.

Very well written & narrator was great as well! Even though I already knew a lot of the details, like about Sudan the last male Northern White Rhino & about all the problems our star animals are facing & why, it still helped put things in order for me (a good timeline is explained) & most importantly, it makes you care for these animals that much more! Anything I can do to help, I help...like donations & volunteering an hour of my time a week to pick up trash around waterways. We all have to help nature right now because it’s vanishing right before our eyes! I will admit though It does get a little repetitive at times but overall, very well done!

A true hero for the natural world!
Reviewed: 06-24-20
I’m obsessed with this remarkable man’s dedication & love for the natural world! A true hero & inspiration in my time! I can only dream to actually meet him! He has captivated me in his story telling & educational teachings for years! He is the reason I started to care more deeply for this planet & the aw-inspiring creatures, plants & fungi that inhabit it! This audible book is just an extension of his tellings & basically fills in the blanks through all his major works & how he got started! Life on Earth, Planet Earth, Life in Cold Blood & so much more is explained on a personal level! Thank you Sir David Attenborough for opening my eyes to the beauty that’s out there (which so desperately needs to be preserved & fought for)!

LOVE THE NARRATOR! I’m listening to all 5 books over again!
Reviewed: 11-14-19
The narrator makes these books! He adds all sorts of voices to each character! Which makes it easy to know who is speaking & entertaining as well. He gets even more detailed with accents & voices in books 3,4 & 5. I really hope he is hire & still around when the final two books come out! A And obviously GRRM is genius! Out of the 5 books this is my 2nd favorite...the first being #1! Definitely worth a listen or 2...or 3:) I’m on my second time listening to the books!

I love The Song Of Ice & Fire books & even though I did ultimately enjoy this book, it did take me a very long time to finish! It just didn’t keep my interest like the rest of the books did so I had to relisten to each chapter (sometimes several times)! Still a great audible book though & worth listening to!

Story
Winter is coming. Such is the stern motto of House Stark, the northernmost of the fiefdoms that owe allegiance to King Robert Baratheon in far-off King's Landing. There Eddard Stark of Winterfell rules in Robert's name. Far to the north, behind the towering Wall, lie savage Wildings and worse - unnatural things relegated to myth during the centuries-long summer, but proving all too real and all too deadly in the turning of the season. Yet a more immediate threat lurks to the south, where Jon Arryn, the Hand of the King, has died under mysterious circumstances....

People complain about the narrator but I really liked him!
Reviewed: 02-16-19
So I am brand new to this audible app & I used my free book coupon for the first book to Game Of Thrones! I was hesitate at first because so many people complained about the narrator in the reviews but I just finished the book & I can honestly say that I really hope he is the narrator for the other books of GOT! I’m hooked! He does so many different voices & different accents! He really keeps you entertained! I can see how some people may not like him! He has an old man British accent but honestly...Who else to better tell this story! So all in all I give this a 5 star! The author is more then a genius & since I have very little time to read, this app makes it possible to get through the some of the best books ever written! I will certainly be buying the other books on Audible! A new life customer!
