Lizzy Moon never wanted Moon Girl Farm. Eight years ago, she left the land that nine generations of gifted healers had tended, determined to distance herself from the whispers about her family’s strange legacy. But when her beloved grandmother Althea dies, Lizzy must return and face the tragedy still hanging over the farm’s withered lavender fields: the unsolved murders of two young girls, and the cruel accusations that followed Althea to her grave.

The authors after-word ruined this whole book for me. They turned what was a very interesting and intriguing strange ghost story into a political statement. I do not appreciate the waste of my time and my credit just to listen to those final words.

The Truth
Reviewed: 10-28-24
This is an amazing compilation of true stories showing how flawed our legal system is and can be at times. My heart breaks for each of these people and cannot say THANK YOU enough to the authors for sharing these stories with us. I would truly look forward to another book just like this so we as the general public can better understand how often this occurs. I personally learned to “never judge a book by its cover”. (no pun intended) This has been not only a page turner but a huge eye-opener as well.

Nicknamed "The Squirrel" for his elusiveness, Thrasher was a daredevil pilot who made millions flying marijuana and cocaine from South America into the US in the '70s and '80s. With his beautiful Portuguese-born wife, Olga, he lived in a mountain estate near Virginia's New River Valley. He owned oceanfront homes and yachts in Florida, spent weekends in the Caribbean, and laundered money in Las Vegas, where he partied with Frank Sinatra's entourage.

As a Roanoker, this book gave me chill bumps knowing this all happened HERE and in areas so close to me! I was only in my 20’s and didn’t have a television, so I rarely watched the news! I WAS BLOWN AWAY BY THIS BOOK! At the end, I smiled and said “Fantastic!” and saw the Squirrel as more of a hero! This is a must read with all the twists and turns and wonderment!!! Thank you Mr Peterson, once again!!!

Hillbilly Elegy is a passionate and personal analysis of a culture in crisis - that of white working-class Americans. The decline of this group, a demographic of our country that has been slowly disintegrating over 40 years, has been reported on with growing frequency and alarm but has never before been written about as searingly from the inside. J. D. Vance tells the true story of what a social, regional, and class decline feels like when you were born with it hung around your neck.

I cannot thank him enough for writing this book and sharing their incredible story with the world. I cherish all of my Mattis books, shirts, pics and a lifetime of stories! Thank you Mark, from the bottom of my heart, for allowing me to see inside of yours and Mattis’ for a few hours. We needed this more than you know! Such a good boi!!!
