Bummer

I really wanted to like this book. It started off well but by the end it really went down hill. It is somewhat interesting enough to keep your attention, but at some point it just gets tiring. The biggest disappointment is the role of the lead female; the author-yes she’s going-makes her sound like an winning idiot throughout the story and the ending is very disappointing, so much so, it was difficult to listen to the last 5 hours.

So far so good. And having it be a part of the membership library isn’t a bad deal either. Storyline is somewhat predictable, but nevertheless it’s well written and entertaining.

What can I say. If you’ve made it this far you obviously know it’s a great series. It has an intriguing storyline, excellent writing and a real ending to the story, which I often find lacking in some of the best books I’ve listened too. I would definitely recommend the series.

Story
Six years ago, I awoke in a cage with no knowledge of who I was or where I’d come from. Six years ago, I was spared the flesh markets and instead thrown in with a group of savages, where I learned it was fight or die. Now, eight Orders of Assassins are converging on the only home I’ve ever known. All in hopes of purchasing new blade slaves for their ranks. I’m for sale, yet all I want is a life far from death and ownership. Then I meet them, the Order of Scorpions. Their allure is a threat to the freedom I crave, but I won’t fall victim to their sting, no matter how tempting it might be.

I started to stop listening within the first couple of pages. However, since I read a few of the reviews that advised it would get better so I kept listening. With that in mind, if you can get past the raunchy written first chapter, you may enjoy it as I did. The writings not bad, The narration for the male characters could have been better, but I wouldn’t consider it a deal breaker.

This book is very well written. None of the fluff that some authors use to make the book longer. I loved it from beginning to end and can’t wait to get started on the book 2.

One of the best I’ve read in a long time. .I’m absolutely ecstatic that the whole series was there together because as each book ended I was ready to for the next one and was happy that I could go straight into it. Seems to me a few things were left unanswered, but it was just minor things and it wasn’t enough to make me not like the book. The story is very interesting. The characters were very interesting. It wasn’t a lot of this repetitive words and phrases that you get in so many fantasy books. I suggest yes read it. It was great.

It’s been a while since a stumbled across a book that caught my attention from the beginning to the end. At first I was a little disappointed because there’s not a lot of last minute saving magic repeated over and over throughout the series, but to my surprise, the story didn’t need it and I didn’t miss it. It’s a good listen.

I want to love it, but some parts make it hard…

I fell in Love with the characters, which is one of the reasons I’ve continued on through the series.
However, I strongly dislike how short each book is and I feel that’s because it’s mostly to gouge its readers out of money.
Now for the book itself, great plot and likable characters. However, I can’t stand the numerous repetitive phrases; then why don’t you use your powers for this and oh yes that’s right, why didn’t I think of that. Also, the incessant reminders of I’m a mage, we elect our leaders, have you forgot…etc. there’s a lot more.
In closing, I really have enjoyed the storyline up to this point, but I’m starting to wonder how much more of it I can take.
