I absolutely love this trilogy. Story is great, narration is great, and I love how long it is. I have listened to it for the three times and just realized I didn't leave a review.

Story
By the wonder of reverse tachyon technology, we have been able to retrieve a series of essays on the History of the United States which was published (or will be published) in the year 2190 AD. The author, Hugo Gottfried, was (will be) the custodian of the abandoned research library on Fifth Avenue in New York City. As he began in the middle of the 22nd century to read the old books down in the dark and dusty nether recesses of the crumbling old building, he slowly came to a startling realization.

I got an hour into this book before realizing the author is a homophobic right-wing nutjob that blames everything in the left. I'm glad I got a free copy of this book or I would be demanding my money back. Not a single thing I heard is worthwhile. But, a bigot has got to bigot I guess.

Like most anthologies I have listened to, there are good stories and not so good stories. Definitely some I would like to see turned into full novels or series. The narration was superb throughout. The narrator is excellent at sounding like a demon. I would recommend.

Story
Not so cute and cuddly! Not a cozy mystery! Not like any crime story you have listened to. Serena McKay, P.I., lives in a post-apocalyptic dystopian time where the rich get richer and the poor are homeless. Existence in August City is nightmarish at best and disastrously chilling at worst. Serena has suffered from devastating emotional and physical abuse but she continues to do her job in spite of it. Can Serena catch The Cellophane Killer who slaughters women with green eyes and then wraps them up in cellophane like a sandwich for her to find? Will she catch him, or will he catch her?

I really enjoyed this book. I will warn that sensitive subjects are a main theme of the book, including sexual abuse of children. The main character is intriguing and I am excited to see where her story continues. I gave the performance only 4 stars because she has a tendency to have out of place pauses throughout the novel, otherwise well deserving of the 5 stars overall.

Story
Possibly the most emotionally charged debate taking place in the US today centers on the Second Amendment and the rights of citizens to bear arms. In the wake of school massacres, the gun rights movement, headed by the National Rifle Association, appears more intractable than ever in its fight against gun control laws. Their core argument is that the proliferation of firearms is essential to maintaining freedom in America, providing private citizens with a defense against possible government tyranny, and thus safeguarding all our other rights. But is this argument valid? Do guns indeed make us free?

I really loved what this book had to say. Very compelling arguments. In the wake of the Trump insurrection, the parts on peaceful protest vs. armed protest really stood out. Amazing how accurate it it. Unfortunately, the gun apologists that need to read this most likely never will or will just call it "fake news".
