Story
Talking about death and dying is considered taboo in polite company, and even in the medical field. Our ideas about dying are confusing at best: Will our memories flash before our eyes? Regrets consume our thoughts? Does a bright light appear at the end of a tunnel? For most people, it will be a slower process, one eased with preparedness, good humor, and a bit of faith. At the forefront of changing attitudes around palliative care is hospice nurse Hadley Vlahos, who shows that end-of-life care can teach us just as much about how to live as it does about how we die.

I love this book and just happened to randomly run across it. My father-in-law is having some serious, physical complications and possibly going downhill. This book gave some good insight to the whole process of hospice, and all of the things involved that most people are not aware. I learned that the author was originally from Baton Rouge where I grew up and then moved to Destin, where I ended up moving with my wife, Angela, and living for the last 37 years! We currently live in Santa Rosa Beach which is right next to Destin and my wife and I are both psychotherapist in private practice and deal with similar situations, so thus book was very informative. The story telling style and vulnerability, and even narration of the book was wonderful. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will recommend it to several people!

Narrated by the author, this audio-only edition of his work will resonate in the listener’s mind long after the final chapter ends.

Human trafficking is not just something that happens in other countries. Nor is it something that just happens to "other people," such as runaways or the disenfranchised. Even kids in your own neighborhood can fall victim. But they don't have to.
