Police chief Cameron McDonald has lived in idyllic Wheelock, Massachusetts for most of his life, as has his beloved wife Allie. Their comfortable lives are thrown into tumult, however, when Cam's distant cousin Jamie arrives in town along with his wife's dead body. And now Cam is torn by his oath to uphold justice and his family obligations as chief of the Scottish McDonald clan.

There were parts of the story that were captivating. I kept listening to hear the part where the cheating was exposed but I was a little disappointed. I ultimately had to take a long break from listening because I couldn't handle another character 'grinning'. They seem to grin constantly, even during the murder trial. I still recommend and will read Jodi novels, just not this one.

I loved every part of this book. It was very well written to keep you hooked. The narrator was alright, I can think of others who would have done a bit better, but she did not distract from the overall book. It's seriously one of the best VC Andrews books written.

As a fan of Flowers in the Attic, I had high hopes for this series. The first two books (Christopher's Diary) were really very disappointing and at times, disturbing. Secret Brother was the best of the 3 books, although I'm left with way too many questions. I would have rather not known Corey was alive, because I can't ever understand how the author did not have him find his siblings. Because of that, if you haven't read this series, don't! It will tarnish the Flowers in the Attic series. I wish I hadn't bothered.
However, I did enjoy Clara Sue and her family and story so for her, I gave 3 stars. The narrator is not my favorite, but I think her voice fit the role.
